Ukraine says Russia is concentrating forces to attack the city of Bakhmut.
Russia is concentrating its forces on the offensive in the city of Bakhmut and is therefore reducing operations in some other areas, said Serhii Cherevatyi, spokesman for Ukraine's Eastern Military Command, on April 25.
According to Serhii Cherevatyi, the situation in Bakhmut “changes over time”: “The enemy is concentrating all its forces in Bakhmut, and in fact is not conducting such intense combat operations anywhere else in our operational area.”

He stated that in Bakhmut over the past day, "the Russian army attacked our positions 23 times, fired 280 times with various types of artillery, and carried out 4 airstrikes."
Mr. Cherevatyi said that Ukrainian artillery forces are working to protect supply routes into Bakhmut, while engineers are doing everything possible "to ensure the restoration of some communication lines."
On the same day, the Russian news site Avia.Pro reported that Ukrainian forces had used JDAM smart bombs in the city of Bakhmut. This indicates a significant shift in the tactics of the Ukrainian army. Avia.Pro published a video showing these bombs exploding in northwestern Bakhmut. The attack targeted several apartment buildings.
JDAM smart bombs are essentially conventional bombs fitted with a kit containing a GPS receiver, control unit, and maneuverable fins, making them precision-guided bombs. They can be launched from distances of up to 70 km. According to analysts at Avia.Pro, with such a range, the launch could have been carried out from the Kharkiv region or in the west of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic.
