Ukraine approves Vepr ground robot for multi-purpose combat missions.

The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense has officially approved the deployment of the Vepr unmanned aerial vehicle (UGV) system in combat operations. The decision, made on June 3rd, marks a new step in the application of unmanned technology based on improvements from battlefield experience, starting in 2024.

Technical specifications and performance capabilities

The Vepr system is designed as a versatile unmanned ground vehicle capable of carrying payloads up to 350kg. According to published specifications, the robot has a maximum range of approximately 40km. In real-world missions, the device can travel 20km in one direction to complete a task before returning to base.

To ensure effectiveness in a complex combat environment, this platform is equipped with an integrated camera system and advanced communication protocols. This structure allows operators to maintain continuous control and monitor the field situation in challenging battlefield conditions.

The role of medical evacuation and logistical support.

One of the most important tasks of the Vepr system is the evacuation of wounded soldiers. The device is capable of transporting up to two people at a time, minimizing the risk for rescue forces by eliminating the need to directly enter dangerous areas with heavy firepower.

In addition to its medical role, Vepr also performs essential logistical functions on the front lines, including:

• Transporting ammunition, food, and other essential supplies.
• Flexible configuration for mine clearance operations.
• Establish it as an attack platform for one-way attack missions when needed.

According to data from the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense, ground-based robotic systems now play a key role in maintaining military strength, performing approximately 10,000 missions per month across the defense lines.
