Serhiy Khlan, an adviser to Kherson’s governor, said the attack targeted the Daryivskyi Bridge over the Ingulets River, which is used to supply Russian troops. The move comes days after a key bridge over the nearby Dnieper River was attacked.
“Each bridge is a logistical weak point and our forces are destroying the enemy’s systems. This is not the liberation of Kherson, but a serious preparation for the implementation of this strategy,” Serhiy Khlan wrote on his personal Facebook page.
On the same day, Russia's TASS news agency quoted information from an official of the Russian-established government in Kherson saying that the Daryivskyi bridge was hit by seven missiles from a high-mobility artillery rocket system (HIMARS) supplied by the West, but was still operational.
Ukraine has used long-range weapons provided by the West to attack Russian supply lines and ammunition depots to turn the tide of the war and prepare for a counter-offensive in the Kherson region. Russia has captured areas in southern and eastern Ukraine since launching its offensive on February 24./.
