"We demand that Kosovo immediately release the Russian citizen and prosecute those responsible for this blatant mistake," the Russian embassy in Serbia announced on May 28, referring to a staff member of a United Nations mission in Kosovo who was arrested in an anti-smuggling operation by the country's police.
The Russian Foreign Ministry had previously accused Kosovo of provocative actions, including the arrest of 13 Serbs in northern cities with predominantly Serbian residents. The Serbian government ordered its security forces to be on high alert following Kosovo's operation. Kosovo's actions come amid escalating tensions in the north of the country, a large part of which remains outside the control of the government and is pledged allegiance to Serbia.

A bloody massacre targeting children occurred on the morning of May 28th in Kawasaki City, Japan. According to police reports, as of 3 PM local time on May 28th, the number of victims had reached 18, including 16 schoolchildren. A 12-year-old girl and a 39-year-old man, believed to be the father of one of the victims, died at the hospital. The suspect, a man in his 50s, committed suicide and died after being taken to the hospital.
The massacre occurred at approximately 7:40 a.m. on a street in a residential area, about 250 meters from Noborito train station. Currently, one woman and two other girls are in critical condition. The children are all students of Caritas Private Elementary School, a Catholic school in the city.

Ukrainian Deputy Foreign Minister Yelena Zerkal said that Ukraine will seek international status for the Kerch Strait, which connects the Black Sea with the Sea of Azov. In a statement to Novoye radio late on May 27, Deputy Foreign Minister Zerkal said, “Ensuring the Kerch Strait has international status is very important. It would resolve many outstanding issues.”
Regarding the recent ruling by the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea (ITLOS) concerning the incident between Russia and Ukraine in the Kerch Strait in late 2018, Ms. Zerkal stated that the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has prepared a diplomatic note to send to the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, requesting that Russia respond regarding when and where Ukraine can receive back the naval vessels and sailors currently detained by Russia.
Israel agrees to negotiate maritime border demarcation with Lebanon.

The cost of building this privately-owned section of the border wall was raised by supporters of U.S. President Donald Trump, who pledged to help the President build "a big, beautiful wall" at the U.S.-Mexico border to the best of their ability.
This privately owned border fence is located at the intersection of New Mexico and Texas (USA) with Chihuahua, Mexico. It serves as a staging point for migrants, primarily from Central American countries, attempting to cross into the United States. U.S. Border Patrol reports that 98,052 people were detained in El Paso, Texas, for illegal entry into the U.S. between October last year and April this year.

The Turkish Ministry of Defense announced on May 28 that its military had launched a military operation in northern Iraq. This operation involves special forces, air force, and artillery to combat Kurdish militants in the region.
The military operation began with a series of artillery and airstrikes on the afternoon of May 27th – local time – targeting the mountainous Hakurk region. Following this, special forces brigades advanced into Iraqi territory to fight Kurdish militants. Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akah personally directed the operation throughout the night. The Turkish Ministry of Defense emphasized that all battlefield developments remain within their plan.
