Ukraine becomes testing ground for new military technologies
According to the Financial Times, Ukraine has become a testing ground for new technologies in military operations.

Ria Novosti quoted an article in the Financial Times saying that today the world is experiencing a major change in the nature of war and Ukraine is being used as a testing ground for new technologies.
The article notes that the US military budget is growing, and defense spending is also rising in China and Europe. But much of the investment is now going into outdated technology like F-35 fighter jets, warships and submarines. Some analysts question whether this is a wise way to spend money, as technology changes the nature of war.
In particular, cheap drones and missiles are beginning to be actively used. They are used by the Houthi forces and are also being used in the conflict in Ukraine.
“In a sense, Ukraine has become a testing ground for changes in the conduct of military operations,” the Financial Times said.
Changes in the nature of war will impact traditional defense contractors, but they will also have significant macroeconomic and geopolitical implications.
According to Financial Times observers, dependence on US manufacturers will likely decrease and individuals and countries will gain more autonomy in defense matters. Moreover, in the future, success will not be judged by the size of defense budgets, but by the technological level of countries.
In recent years, Russia has claimed that NATO is conducting unprecedented activities on its western border. NATO is expanding its initiatives and calling it a “deterrent to Russian aggression.”
Moscow has repeatedly expressed concern about the buildup of the alliance in Europe. The Kremlin noted that Russia does not threaten anyone, but will not ignore actions that could endanger its interests.
