Experiments conducted by specialists on nematodes (Nematoda) were published in a research paper in The Journals of Gerontology: Series A.
According to the South China Morning Post, absorbing chlorogenic acid—an antioxidant found in large quantities in plums, potatoes, and eggplant, as well as in tea and coffee—helped prolong Nematoda's life.
Some live for as long as 35 days, which, if converted to human age, would be approximately 175 years.
This antioxidant is already known to help reduce the risk of cancer, Parkinson's disease, and Alzheimer's disease. However, its impact on longevity has not been studied before.
It is hypothesized that, based on the newly obtained data, it will be possible to extract and create a drug that affects the aging process.
