According to Lieutenant Colonel Tuan, earlier, at around 5 PM on May 19th, a task force consisting of traffic police and public order police from Krong Nang District Police Department was patrolling and ensuring safety before the election day in Cu Klong commune when they spotted Y Sang Nie carrying another person (whose identity is unknown) on a motorbike without helmets.
The task force confiscated the vehicle documents from the two individuals, after which they left.
About 15 minutes later, the two suspects returned with knives to confront the task force and demand the return of their vehicle documents, but were refused.

Unable to retrieve their documents, the two suspects repeatedly threatened, insulted, and intimidated the task force with knives. Seeing the suspects acting so aggressively and causing a disturbance, Lieutenant Pham Tien Dung (of the Public Order Police Team) took advantage of a moment of inattention and intervened to disarm suspect Y Sang Nie. However, the suspect turned and slashed Dung's right hand with a knife, severing two tendons in his forearm.
Seeing their teammate being attacked, the task force was forced to fire warning shots, but the two suspects not only refused to comply but also attacked back with knives. Afterward, the two suspects fled.
The incident is currently being investigated by the Krông Năng District Police.
