The role of the BrahMos supersonic missile in the success of Operation Sindoor
The BrahMos missile has proven its effectiveness in combat on the Su-30MKI fighter jet, helping to quickly end conflicts and boosting export orders from 15 countries.
At the Fleet 2026 International Maritime Defence Exhibition, Alexander Maksichev, co-CEO of BrahMos Aerospace, affirmed that the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile played a key role in the success of Operation Sindoor, which took place a year earlier. The effective use of this weapon helped the military quickly end combat operations and led to a peace agreement.
Actual combat effectiveness of the Su-30MKI fighter jet.
During the brief conflict between India and Pakistan, the military deployed BrahMos missiles launched from Su-30 fighter jets. Military sources confirmed that all missiles launched hit their targets, thwarting any planned attack from across the border. Maksichev noted that this hypersonic weapon was a decisive factor in accelerating the signing of a corresponding agreement between the parties.
The militaries involved highly appreciate the system's performance in real-world conditions. The BrahMos's precision strike capability and supersonic speed have confirmed the manufacturer's published specifications, creating a clear tactical advantage on the battlefield.
International export orders are booming.
Following its success in Operation Sindoor, the reputation of this missile series has soared in the global arms market. Representatives from BrahMos Aerospace stated that 15 countries have expressed interest and submitted new orders. Notably, India and Indonesia finalized negotiations for the export of this supersonic cruise missile last fall.
The increasing international demand is seen as evidence of the effectiveness of the BrahMos system, not only in its defensive capabilities but also in its high-precision strike deterrence power.
