Valve has started sending pre-order emails for the Steam Machine ahead of its official launch.
After the registration period ended, Valve officially sent confirmation emails to the lucky users who had the chance to own a Steam Machine. The device is expected to reach users in early July after the official sale on June 30th.
Valve has just confirmed that the Steam Machine will officially launch on June 30th. However, owning this device isn't simply a matter of making a regular purchase. Interested users must participate in a special registration program to have a chance to win a unit.
Registration closed on June 25th. After a brief period of community concern about potential delays, Valve has now begun sending booking confirmation emails to selected users.
Booking and order confirmation process
Those lucky enough to receive a confirmation email won't be able to pay immediately. According to Valve's process, a separate purchase email will be sent once their product unit is ready. From the moment they receive that purchase email, customers will have 3 days to complete the payment process.
If the order is not completed within 3 days, the reservation will be canceled and transferred to the next person on the waiting list. This measure aims to ensure that devices are quickly distributed to users who genuinely need them.
Premium version distribution policy
For users who subscribe to multiple versions of the Steam Machine, Valve has implemented a specific policy. Instead of allowing reservations for multiple models, the system will automatically assign the user to the highest-end version they subscribed to. Simultaneously, their name will be removed from the waiting list for all lower-end versions.
Besides those who received good news, some users also received notifications that they were not selected for this production run due to limited device availability. However, Valve stated that there is still a chance for this group of users. If customers on the official list decline to purchase or cancel their orders, those on the waiting list will be moved up to replace them.
Estimated delivery time
With the system officially launching on June 30th, the first customers who complete the payment process can receive their devices as early as the first week of July. Currently, Valve has not yet announced when the next registration period will open for those who missed this opportunity.
