Jujitsu athletes from Nghe An province concluded their SEA Games 33 journey with one silver and one bronze medal.

On the afternoon of December 13th, athlete Nguyen Tat Loc completed his participation in the 33rd SEA Games with a Silver Medal in the Mid Team -85kg fighting category of Jujitsu, thus concluding his first SEA Games with a total of one Silver and one Bronze Medal.

This is a remarkable achievement for the fighter from Nghe An province, as he makes his debut in the biggest competition in Southeast Asia.

In the Mid Team -85kg fighting category, Nguyen Tat Loc and his teammates entered the competition with high determination. In the semi-finals, the Vietnamese Jujitsu team overcame their Philippine opponents to advance to the final.

However, in the final match, Tat Loc and his teammates had to face the Thai team, a very strong opponent in this event. As a result, the Vietnamese team suffered a defeat and won the Silver Medal overall.

Sharing his thoughts after the match, Nguyen Tat Loc said: “I competed in the Mid Team -85kg fighting category, and in the final I faced Thailand and lost. Thailand is really strong in this category.”

Earlier, on December 12th, Tat Loc won a Bronze Medal in the men's Ne-waza under 77kg category, becoming the first athlete from Nghe An to win a medal at the 33rd SEA Games. In the bronze medal match, he defeated his teammate Nguyen Cat Tung after being eliminated in the semi-finals. This medal holds special significance, marking an important step forward for Tat Loc personally as well as for the Nghe An Jujitsu team at the SEA Games.

Looking back on his journey at the Games, Tat Loc couldn't hide his emotions as he shared on his personal page: “Goodbye SEA Games 33 – my first SEA Games. With the Vietnamese team. There's a little regret… 1 Silver Medal, 1 Bronze Medal. I sincerely thank the leadership, teachers, teammates, friends, and everyone who always cared for, encouraged, and followed Loc from Nghe An competing at SEA Games 33. Thank you very much.”

When asked about his feelings after the individual competitions, Nguyen Tat Loc frankly expressed: "Yesterday I almost had the chance to sing the national anthem. Although I feel regret, I consider this a great lesson. I will try again next time."

As of 5:00 PM on December 13th, the Vietnamese sports delegation had won 28 gold medals, 18 silver medals, and 43 bronze medals, temporarily ranking second in the overall medal standings. Host nation Thailand continues to hold the top spot with 68 gold medals, 44 silver medals, and 28 bronze medals, while Indonesia ranks third with 20 gold medals, 29 silver medals, and 24 bronze medals.

The 33rd SEA Games marked Nguyen Tat Loc's first appearance representing the national team at a regional sporting event. With one silver and one bronze medal, the jujitsu fighter from Nghe An left a strong impression and demonstrated his potential for further success in the future.

Nguyen Tat Loc's achievement has contributed to enriching Nghe An's sporting achievements at the SEA Games. Furthermore, this will be an important stepping stone for this young athlete to continue improving himself, aiming for higher goals in regional and continental competitions in the future.
