Van Kieu - A land of great potential

The year 2025 marked an important milestone when Van Kieu commune was officially established on the basis of merging the entire area and population of Nghi Kieu and Nghi Van communes of Nghi Loc district before. As one of 82 mountainous communes of Nghe An province, Van Kieu covers a natural area of ​​63.46 km2, possessing a diverse terrain, both fertile plains and rolling hills. This diversity has created a colorful natural picture and is an ideal condition for the development of high-tech agriculture and forestry.

Not only that, Van Kieu also owns a strategic geographical location when it is located close to the North-South expressway, near large industrial parks such as WHA and has important traffic routes such as Provincial Road N5, National Highway 7C, National Highway 48E passing through. This is an outstanding advantage for the commune to promote economic restructuring, open the door to attract investment, develop industry, trade, services and create jobs for more than 28,000 local people.

However, the most valuable resource of Van Kieu is its people. The people here inherently possess the good qualities of Nghe An people: diligence, creativity in work, studiousness and a rich revolutionary tradition. In particular, with about 43% of the population being Catholics, the harmony and solidarity between religions and non-religious people has become a unique cultural feature, a solid foundation for building a great national unity bloc. The core of that great unity bloc is the Party Committee of the commune with 711 party members operating in 46 affiliated party organizations, always taking the lead in all movements, bringing the Party's policies and guidelines into life.

Mark of a difficult term

The 2020-2025 term passed in a turbulent context, with complicated developments in the world situation and especially the severe impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. However, with will and determination, under the close leadership of the Party Committee, the government, the Party Committee and the people of Nghi Kieu and Nghi Van communes (before the merger) united, turning challenges into motivation, achieving comprehensive and important achievements in all fields.

The economy is a bright spot in the overall picture of the term. The average economic growth rate reached an impressive 7.24%/year; the total production value in 2025 is estimated at 1,688 billion VND, an increase of 1.42 times compared to the beginning of the term. This figure not only reflects quantitative growth but also shows a positive shift in quality, as the proportion of industry - construction and trade - services is increasing. Thanks to that, the average income per capita has reached 60.1 million VND/year, people's lives are constantly improving. The commune's agriculture has also developed stably with many concentrated commodity production models, applying high technology, creating 3-star OCOP products with brands such as grapefruit, orange, and melon.

Along with economic development, the rural landscape has changed dramatically, especially through the new rural construction movement. With a total mobilized capital of up to 5,989 billion VND in 5 years, Nghi Kieu commune has risen to meet the advanced new rural standards, while Nghi Van commune has excellently achieved the model new rural standards. This is a sweet achievement from the joint efforts and consensus of all the people.

The improvement of material life has created a solid foundation for comprehensive care of culture and society. The quality of education has been affirmed with 7/7 schools meeting national standards, primary health care for the people is guaranteed, the rate of health insurance participation reaches 95%. Social security policies have been implemented promptly and effectively, helping the poverty rate to decrease sustainably, to only 4.9% by the end of the term.

To achieve the above achievements, the work of building the Party and the political system is identified as a key and continuous task. The study and following of Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style has been widely implemented, closely linked with resolutions on Party building and rectification, thereby enhancing the leadership capacity and fighting strength of Party organizations. The effectiveness and efficiency of government management have been significantly improved, especially in administrative reform, with the rate of timely handling of records reaching over 97%, creating satisfaction and trust among the people.

Aspiration to rise in the new stage

Promoting the achievements, the Party Committee of Van Kieu commune enters the 2025-2030 term with a new mindset and great aspirations, although knowing that the road ahead still has many challenges, especially new requirements in management work after the merger.

With the motto of action "Solidarity - Democracy - Discipline - Setting an example - Breakthrough - Development", the Congress agreed on the common goal of focusing on building a clean and strong Party and political system; developing a synchronous and modern socio-economy; improving the material and spiritual life of the people, determined to build Van Kieu commune to meet the standards of a model new rural area.

To realize that goal, the Congress has identified 5 key tasks and 3 breakthroughs, considering these as strategic directions for the entire term. The focus will be on continuing to strengthen Party building, promoting administrative reform and digital transformation, while focusing all resources on rapid and sustainable economic development, associated with environmental protection. Strategic breakthroughs include enhancing the fighting capacity of Party organizations, building digital government, and focusing on planning and synchronous infrastructure investment to expand regional connectivity.

With ambitious targets such as an average economic growth rate of 10 - 11%/year and an average income per capita of 70.6 million VND/year by 2030, the Party Committee and people of Van Kieu are demonstrating a high political determination and a strong desire to rise up, ready to continue writing heroic pages of history in their potential homeland.

The first Congress of Van Kieu Commune Party Committee announced the decision to appoint the first term Party Committee Executive Committee for the 2025-2030 term. These are exemplary cadres and Party members with sufficient qualities, capacity, prestige and enthusiasm, expected to be the core leaders, leading the entire Party Committee and the people of the commune to successfully implement the set goals and tasks. The Executive Committee is responsible for developing specific action programs and plans to soon put the Congress Resolution into practice, creating breakthrough developments for the locality.
