Building on revolutionary traditions, unity, dynamism, and creativity, the Party Committee, government, and people of Van Kieu commune are striving to overcome difficulties and challenges, effectively exploiting their potential and advantages, and are determined to build their homeland into an increasingly prosperous, civilized, and modern place, contributing to the overall development of Nghe An province.
Van Kieu – A land of great potential
The year 2025 marked a significant milestone when Van Kieu commune was officially established through the merger of the entire area and population of the former Nghi Kieu and Nghi Van communes of Nghi Loc district. As one of the 82 mountainous communes of Nghe An province, Van Kieu spans a natural area of 63.46 km2, possessing a diverse topography encompassing both fertile plains and rolling hills. This diversity creates a vibrant natural landscape and provides ideal conditions for the development of high-tech agriculture and forestry.
Furthermore, Van Kieu boasts a strategic geographical location, situated near the North-South Expressway, close to major industrial zones like WHA, and traversed by important transportation routes such as Provincial Road N5, National Highway 7C, and National Highway 48E. This is a significant advantage for the commune to accelerate economic restructuring, attract investment, develop industry, trade, and services, and create jobs for over 28,000 local residents.
However, Van Kieu's most valuable resource is its people. The people here possess the admirable qualities of the Nghe An region: diligence, creativity in labor, a love of learning, and a rich revolutionary tradition. In particular, with approximately 43% of the population being Catholic, harmony and unity between Catholics and non-Catholics has become a distinctive cultural feature, a solid foundation for building national unity. The leading force in this unity is the commune's Party Committee, with 711 members operating in 46 subordinate Party organizations, always at the forefront of all movements, implementing the Party's policies and guidelines into practice.
The mark of a term in office marked by overcoming difficulties.
The 2020-2025 term unfolded amidst turbulent times, marked by complex global developments and, in particular, the severe impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. However, with unwavering determination and under the close leadership of the Party Committee and government, the Party organization and people of Nghi Kieu and Nghi Van communes (before the merger) united as one, transforming challenges into motivation and achieving comprehensive and significant accomplishments in all fields.
The economy is a standout highlight in the overall picture of the term. The average economic growth rate reached an impressive 7.24% per year; the total value of production in 2025 is estimated at 1,688 billion VND, a 1.42-fold increase compared to the beginning of the term. This figure not only reflects quantitative growth but also shows a positive qualitative shift, with the proportion of industry-construction and trade-services steadily increasing. As a result, per capita income has reached 60.1 million VND per year, and people's lives have continuously improved. The commune's agriculture has also developed steadily with many concentrated commodity production models, applying high technology, creating branded 3-star OCOP products such as pomelo, oranges, and cantaloupe.

Alongside economic development, the face of rural areas has undergone remarkable changes, especially through the New Rural Development (NRD) movement. With a total mobilized capital of 5,989 billion VND over 5 years, Nghi Kieu commune has risen to achieve advanced NRD standards, while Nghi Van commune has excelled in achieving model NRD standards. This is the sweet fruit of the collective efforts and unity of all the people.
Improved material living standards have created a solid foundation for comprehensive care of culture and society. The quality of education has been affirmed with 7 out of 7 schools achieving national standards, primary healthcare for the people is ensured, and the health insurance participation rate has reached 95%. Social security policies have been implemented promptly and effectively, helping to sustainably reduce the poverty rate to only 4.9% by the end of the term.
To achieve these accomplishments, Party building and strengthening the political system have been identified as key and continuous tasks. The study and emulation of Ho Chi Minh's ideology, ethics, and style have been widely implemented, closely linked to resolutions on Party building and rectification, thereby enhancing the leadership capacity and fighting strength of Party organizations. The effectiveness and efficiency of government management have been significantly improved, especially in administrative reform, with the rate of timely processing of documents exceeding 97%, creating satisfaction and trust among the people.
Aspiration to excel in the new era.
Building on the achievements already made, the Party Committee of Van Kieu commune enters the 2025-2030 term with a new mindset and a great aspiration, even though it knows that the road ahead still holds many challenges, especially the new requirements in management after the merger.
With the motto "Unity - Democracy - Discipline - Exemplary Conduct - Breakthrough - Development," the Congress unanimously agreed on the common goal of focusing on building a clean and strong Party and political system; developing a comprehensive and modern socio-economic system; improving the material and spiritual lives of the people; and resolutely building Van Kieu commune to meet the standards of a model new rural area.
To realize that goal, the Congress identified five key tasks and three breakthroughs, considering them strategic directions for the entire term. The focus will be on continuing to strengthen Party building, promoting administrative reform and digital transformation, while concentrating all resources on rapid and sustainable economic development, linked with environmental protection. The strategic breakthroughs include enhancing the fighting capacity of Party organizations, building a digital government, and prioritizing planning and investment in synchronized infrastructure to expand regional connectivity.
With ambitious targets such as an average economic growth rate of 10-11% per year and per capita income reaching 70.6 million VND per year by 2030, the Party Committee and people of Van Kieu are demonstrating a high level of political determination and a strong aspiration to rise up, ready to write more glorious chapters in the history of their potentially rich homeland.
Executive Committee of the Van Kieu Commune Party Committee for the term 2025 - 2030
The first Party Congress of Van Kieu Commune announced the decision to appoint the Executive Committee of the Commune Party Committee for the first term, 2025-2030. These are exemplary cadres and Party members with sufficient qualities, capabilities, prestige, and dedication, expected to be the leading core, guiding the entire Party Committee and the people of the commune to successfully achieve the set goals and tasks. The Executive Committee is tasked with developing action programs and specific plans to quickly implement the Congress Resolution, creating breakthroughs in the local development.
Comrade Chu Bá Long was appointed as the Party Committee Secretary, Comrade Đinh Thanh Trang as the Standing Deputy Party Committee Secretary, and Comrade Trần Văn Sao as the Deputy Party Committee Secretary and Chairman of the Commune People's Committee.
