The Office of the People's Committee of Nghe An Province held a press conference for the first quarter of 2021.

On the afternoon of March 25th, the Office of the Provincial People's Committee held a press conference to inform about the socio-economic situation in the first quarter and the key tasks and solutions for the second quarter of 2021.

Situation reportsocio-economic situation of Nghe An provinceAt the Q1/2021 meeting, the estimated growth rate of Nghe An province's Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) in the first quarter of 2021 was 6.73%. Specifically, agriculture, forestry, and fisheries are estimated to have increased by 4.71%; industry and construction by 11.7%; services by 4.92%; and product taxes less product subsidies by 4.25% compared to the same period in 2020.

In particular, during the first quarter, two important transportation routes were officially opened: the Cua Hoi Bridge and the Vinh-Cua Lo connecting road. Regarding foreign relations, attracting investment and developing businesses were significantly boosted with many noteworthy results. As of March 17, 2021, 16 new projects were approved and 27 projects were adjusted, with a total newly approved and increased investment capital of over 7,000 billion VND.

Regarding budget revenue collection in the first quarter, it is estimated that over 4,100 billion VND was collected, reaching 29.4% of the projected target and 94% of the same period in 2020; budget expenditure is estimated at nearly 5,680 billion VND, reaching 22.1% of the projected target. Several other areas, such as education and training, administrative reform, national defense, and security, have seen many positive developments in line with the set direction.

During the conference, journalists raised concerns and requested that the Provincial People's Committee and relevant departments clarify the following issues: the backlog of agricultural products, the forecasting and planning of solutions to address the consequences for farmers; low-income housing projects; and the handling of traffic intersections to prevent accidents and ensure traffic safety when the route is opened.Vinh – Cua Lo Boulevard;Strengthening the handling of the issues raised in the report; managing mineral mining; and managing social media.

Journalists suggested that the Provincial People's Committee Office and relevant departments and agencies should create conditions for journalists to access and report on the province's socio-economic situation as quickly as possible,...

Speaking at the press conference, Chief of the Provincial People's Committee Office Dang Thanh Tung acknowledged and highly appreciated the sharing and support of reporters and media agencies with the province in the past period.

The comrade also requested that departments and agencies continue to coordinate with press agencies to objectively reflect issues related to life, economy, and society; and expressed the hope to continue receiving the companionship, sharing, and support of press agencies in publicizing the achievements and results of the province in all aspects.

Regarding the suggestions from journalists and media outlets, the Provincial People's Committee Office will coordinate with the Department of Information and Communications to send documents to districts, cities, and towns to continue monitoring and addressing the issues raised in the press.
