Thanks to the brilliance of the 29-year-old striker, Claudio Ranieri's team won 2-0 in the 33rd round of the English Premier League on April 10th.

This result extends Leicester's lead over Tottenham to 10 points before the London team hosts Man Utd at White Hart Lane. This was Leicester's fifth consecutive victory, and the scenario was not much different from previous matches, although this time they won 2-0 instead of 1-0.

Sunderland created a very good game, forcing Leicester back into the image of a typical English team with clumsy tackles and simple crosses and headers. Throughout the first half, the most dangerous chance came in the second minute of added time when Fabio Borini's shot deflected off Wes Morgan, forcing Kasper Schmeichel to make a difficult save.

However, the most notable incident in the first half was Van Aanholt's dribble in the 37th minute. Defender Robert Huth, in a sliding tackle to clear the ball, handled it. This situation was reminiscent of the denied penalties for Crystal Palace and Southampton against Leicester in recent matches. Many believe Leicester are being favored by the referees.

The back-and-forth battle only ended thanks to a moment of brilliance from Danny Drinkwater in the 66th minute. The midfielder, recently called up to the England national team, delivered a superb long pass from his own half to Jamie Vardy, who used his speed to beat Younes Kaboul and curl the ball into the net against Sunderland.

This was Vardy's first Premier League goal since the 1-2 defeat to Arsenal on February 14th. It set the stage for Leicester to continue their usual counter-attacking style of play. In the following minutes, Leonardo Ulloa and Wes Morgan had chances to double the lead but missed. Then, in the fifth minute of added time in the second half, from a pass by Demarai Gray, Vardy sprinted past Van Aanholt, dribbled past Mannone, and calmly slotted the ball into the home team's net for the second time.

Sunderland's best chance in the second half was Jack Rodwell's close-range tap-in in the 82nd minute. Despite being in a favorable position, the former Man City midfielder incredibly missed. Losing to Leicester at home, Sunderland remain in 18th place, four points behind Norwich in safety but with a game in hand.

For Leicester, this victory brings them a big step closer to the championship. Before matchday 33, former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho predicted that if Leicester won and Tottenham lost to Man Utd, they would be crowned champions this season. Vardy's two goals also helped him close the gap on Harry Kane in the race for the Golden Boot (21 goals compared to 22).
