In localities that organize simultaneous planting, every household hires planters. Although there are many planters coming from many places, some households have not found planters even after pulling out the seedlings. Photo: Huy Thu

A woman in Dong Van commune said that she thought the year would be sunny and warm, but it turned out to be colder than the rest of the year, but farmers still planted rice because the seedlings had grown strong. On the morning of February 10, the sun was shining, but the previous days of planting in the cold rain were quite difficult. Photo: Huy Thu

Most of the transplanters try to go early and come back late to get a full day's work. Some women only find fields to plant after going to the market. Ms. Nguyen Thi Lan from Thanh Phong commune, who works as a hired transplanter in Dong Van commune (Thanh Chuong), said: For nearly a week now, she has been following the villagers to plant for hire. All the women in the neighborhood work as hired transplanters, so it's quite fun. Photo: Huy Thu

Nowadays, the rice planters are often treated to lunch at home by the field owners. After half a day of planting, the women often stop to eat snacks and take a break in the field. Some groups of hired rice planters bring food and water to eat in the middle of the field. Photo: Huy Thu
