On September 9, 2013, the spirit medium ritual was recognized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage; on December 1, 2016, UNESCO officially issued a resolution recognizing "The Practice of the Mother Goddess Worship of the Three Realms of the Vietnamese People" as a Representative Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
