(Baonghean.vn) - Huoi May residential area in Cam Pom village is the only Khmu ethnic group in Cam Muon commune, Que Phong district. This is also the most remote and difficult place in all aspects of the area known as the "golden land of joy".

Huoi May used to be a separate village in the "golden land" of Cam Muon, Que Phong district. For several years now, a residential area of 37 households, including 35 Khmu households, has been merged with Cam Pom village. This residential area is about 40km from the main village and the commune center. Photo: Dinh Tuyen

Getting to this residential area is a truly arduous journey. On the nearly 40km road to Huoi May, about 7km from Na Khich village, Nam Nhoong commune is mainly a steep mountain pass, with many sections requiring wading through rocky streams. Photo: Huu Vi

There are no roads or telephone signals, and the national grid has not yet reached this residential area. Most of the people here still have to use electricity generated by turbines suspended over streams. Photo: Dinh Tuyen

Traffic problems and other shortages make life extremely difficult for the people here. All 37 households in the residential group are poor. With no fields or fields, Huoi May residents can only rely on natural gathering. Others go to industrial zones to make a living. Photo: Huu Vi

For many years, the food source of the people of Huoi May has mainly relied on aid from the State. Some obstacles as well as the steep terrain make it very difficult to reclaim land for production. This has pushed many people into a rather passive situation in economic development. Photo: Huu Vi

Transporting construction materials into the area is also difficult. Therefore, the majority of people still live in temporary houses. According to some people who have participated in the construction of some projects in Huoi May, each cubic meter of construction sand in Huoi May costs up to millions of dong. Photo: Dinh Tuyen

However, some people have made certain efforts to escape the difficult situation in economic development. Raising livestock is almost the most feasible way for people here as well as many other isolated villages like Huoi May. Photo: Dinh Tuyen

Because they could not call in workers from outside, some people learned carpentry on their own and were able to build their own houses and help their fellow residents. Photo: Dinh Tuyen

Currently, the local government has also allocated resources to help the Huoi May people build houses. Some areas of rice fields outside the village have also been leveled to form terraced plots. Perhaps in the near future, the Huoi May people will be able to get used to growing rice. This contributes to the hope of helping this group of people escape from living on natural gathering as well as support sources. Photo: Huu Vi
