A 30-meter-long crack suddenly appeared on the highway.

National Highway 32C, the section passing through Minh Quan commune (Yen Bai province), unexpectedly cracked and subsided to a depth of nearly 1 meter and a length of 30 meters.

At 7:00 AM on August 25th, at Km79+300 on National Highway 32C, in Minh Quan commune, Tran Yen district, Yen Bai province, a crack appeared on the road surface, extending approximately 30 meters in length and nearly 1 meter in depth. The crack was about 20 cm to nearly 1 meter wide. Around the crack, the soil and roadbed had subsided.

Representatives from the Yen Bai Provincial Department of Transport said they have sent personnel to the scene to coordinate with traffic police in directing traffic and warning vehicles of danger. Authorities will also coordinate with consulting and assessment units to develop a remediation plan, aiming to complete it by August 25th.

Regarding the initial cause, according to a representative from the Yen Bai Department of Transport, it may have been due to the impact of storms and heavy rain, and the fact that a nearby household was digging a foundation for a house, which affected that section of the road.
