The Disciplinary Board of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) has disciplined Mr. Nguyen Van Nhat - Head Coach of the Thai Nguyen U16 Women's Team for intending to falsify the match results between the Thai Nguyen team and the Ho Chi Minh City team.

On July 29, the VFF Disciplinary Board decided to discipline Mr. Nguyen Van Nhat - Head Coach of the Thai Nguyen U16 Women's Team for his intention to distort the match results between Thai Nguyen and Ho Chi Minh City, affecting the image of the tournament in particular and Vietnamese football in general.

According to the decision, Mr. Nguyen Van Nhat, Head Coach of the Thai Nguyen U16 Women's Team, was fined VND5,000,000 (Five million VND) and suspended from participating in football activities managed and organized by VFF for 12 months due to his intention to distort the match results between the Thai Nguyen team and the Ho Chi Minh City team, affecting the image of the tournament in particular and Vietnamese football in general.

Mr. Nguyen Van Nhat has the right to appeal to the VFF Complaints Resolution Board according to the provisions of the VFF Disciplinary Regulations (amended and supplemented in 2023).

Regarding this incident, on July 24, the VFF Football Anti-Corruption Committee sent a document to the VFF Disciplinary Committee requesting consideration of handling the behavior related to the intention to fix the score of the head coach of the Thai Nguyen U16 Women's Football Club.

According to the report of the Ho Chi Minh City U16 Women's Club, during the participation in the 2024 National U16 Women's Championship, the Head Coach of the Ho Chi Minh City U16 Women's Football Club was asked by the Head Coach of the Thai Nguyen U16 Women's Football Club to instruct the players to play below their ability to help the Thai Nguyen U16 Women's Football Club win (2-0) in the match on July 21, 2024.

However, the Head Coach of the Ho Chi Minh City U16 Women's Club refused the offer and reported it to the VFF. In the match on July 21, the Ho Chi Minh City U16 Women's Club tied with the Thai Nguyen U16 Women's Club with a score of 1-1. What is condemnable is that when they could not reach an agreement, on the evening of July 21, 2024, the Coach of the Thai Nguyen U16 Women's Team sent a text message insulting and even threatening the Head Coach of the Ho Chi Minh City U16 Women's Club.

Considering the complicated nature of the incident, on July 23 and 24, 2024, the VFF's functional departments met and worked with the relevant parties, and invited the Criminal Police Department to attend. At the meeting, the Head Coach of Thai Nguyen Women's U16 Club admitted that he had asked the Head Coach of Ho Chi Minh City Women's U16 Club to play below his ability so that Thai Nguyen Women's U16 could win 2-0, but was refused, and then sent insulting and threatening messages...

Discussing this issue, Mr. Duong Nghiep Khoi - General Secretary of VFF said that the entire file has been transferred by the VFF's Football Corruption Prevention Board to the VFF Disciplinary Board for a decision on penalties. Mr. Duong Nghiep Khoi affirmed that VFF has been and will continue to resolutely handle and eliminate negative signs and behaviors to ensure the building of a sustainable and clean football development./.
