The Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) has summoned 30 players to prepare for the international U16 tournament.
Vietnam U16 coach Cristiano Roland has just called up 30 players to prepare for the CFA Team China 2025 international U16 tournament, including two promising talents from Song Lam Nghe An Club.
The Vietnam U16 team, under the guidance of coach Cristiano Roland, will officially assemble from May 10th at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center to prepare for the CFA Team China 2025 International U16 Football Tournament, which will take place in Hohhot (China) from May 28th to June 1st.
This is an important tournament in the plan to review the squad, test the lineup, and aim towards the main goal of the 2026 U17 Asian Championship Qualifiers taking place at the end of the year.
With the participation of three strong teams – U16 Australia, U16 Saudi Arabia, and host nation U16 China – the tournament is seen as a valuable opportunity for the Vietnamese U16 team to gain experience, hone their international skills, and develop the professional abilities of their young players.
Among the 30 players called up this time, two notable names come from the youth academy.Lam River, Nghe AnNguyen Minh Thuy and Tran Ngoc Son.
Midfielder Nguyen Minh Thuy, born in 2009, is currently the captain of the U16 Song Lam Nghe An team, playing as a central midfielder. Minh Thuy impresses with his ability to control the tempo of the game, flexible tactical thinking, and creative passes. In particular, he possesses the ability to shoot with both feet, frequently creating dangerous and unpredictable plays in front of the opponent's goal.
At the 2024 National U15 Championship, although Song Lam Nghe An was eliminated in the quarterfinals, Minh Thuy still made a strong impression and was considered by experts to be one of the most promising midfielders in the U16 age group today.
Also born in 2009, Tran Ngoc Son is a versatile player who can play well as a winger and a forward. He impresses with his speed, skillful individual technique, and ability to penetrate opposing defenses. Possessing an ideal physique and a modern playing style, Ngoc Son is always a threat in quick counter-attacks.
The fact that both Minh Thủy and Ngọc Sơn have been called up to the Vietnam U16 national team is proof of the increasingly high quality of youth training at the Sông Lam Nghệ An Youth Football Training Center. This is not only a source of pride for Nghệ An football but also a great motivation for young players to continue developing and proving themselves on the international stage.
Fans expect these two young talents to perform outstandingly, make positive contributions to the overall success of the Vietnam U16 team, and gain more experience to aim for the big goal at the 2026 U17 Asian Qualifiers.
