Compared to 2016, the university quota of the People's Public Security schools this year decreased by more than 50% (compared to 3,200 quotas in 2016) and decreased sharply compared to previous years.

In addition, admission to police schools (college and intermediate levels) is only for soldiers who have performed their public security service.

To better understand the above issues, Lieutenant General Nguyen Xuan Muoi, Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics of the People's Public Security (Ministry of Public Security) said:

PV:Please tell me why the enrollment targetinto police schoolsthis year againsurprisesuch a sharp decline?

Lieutenant General Nguyen Xuan Muoi:It is true that this year, the enrollment quota for the Police Academy has decreased compared to 2016 and much less than previous years. Candidates recruited to the Police Academy are those who are officially recruited to work and assigned to work in the Police sector.

The reason why the enrollment quota for police schools this year suddenly decreased sharply is because the Ministry of Public Security implemented the Party and State's policy on streamlining the payroll, so the payroll in the People's Public Security force was not increased.

In 2017, the total quota for admission to police schools is 1,500 nationwide. As for the colleges and intermediate schools of the People's Public Security, they do not recruit new high school students but only recruit soldiers who have completed their public security service. This is to help the number of people who have completed their public security service through the form of examination to be recruited back into the police units.

PV:Sir, why does the Ministry of Public Security not recruit new high school students into the Police College and Intermediate School system, but only recruits soldiers who have completed their military service?

Lieutenant General Nguyen Xuan Muoi:Currently, in the People's Public Security Force, there is a large number of young people performing military service such as: mobile police, security police in prisons... Most of these people aspire to become professional officers in the People's Public Security Force. Therefore, in order to create conditions for soldiers who have completed their People's Public Security service to have the opportunity to continue working in the Public Security sector, there must be a policy to attract them to work by taking entrance exams to police schools.

Therefore, the Ministry of Public Security gives priority to those who have voluntarily performed their duty in the People's Public Security Forces to take the entrance exam to public security schools with College and Intermediate levels.

PV:So what will the entrance exam to police schools be like for those who have completed their public security service, sir?

Lieutenant General Nguyen Xuan Muoi:All candidates applying to police universities and those who have completed their military service must take the entrance exam according to the instructions of the Ministry of Education and Training. Accordingly, all candidates must register for the National High School Exam. After that, depending on each police school, candidates will be admitted to the school based on each combination. For example, some police schools will consider candidates based on the combination of Math, Literature, and English, but the Fire Prevention and Fighting School considers candidates based on Math and 2 subjects in the Natural Science combination (Physics, Chemistry).

PV:Could you please tell us how priority is given to those who have completed their military service in the People's Public Security Forces?

Lieutenant General Nguyen Xuan Muoi:The Ministry of Public Security has agreed to give priority to soldiers who have completed their military service and are admitted to police schools with college and intermediate levels, and will receive 2 extra points.

PV:Thank you, Lieutenant General!/.
