Why is Ninh Chu an international destination for beach tourism?

Every year we make plans to go back to Ninh Chu.

On a mid-October morning at Ninh Chu beach, the tide was rising. A cool, gentle breeze blew. Taking a deep breath, Jeffrey and his group of tourists from Australia seemed to let go of all the fatigue and stress after their long flight.

"Whoever goes to Ninh Thuan should visit Ninh Chu, overflowing with fragrance; the wind sings a captivating song to the waves."That's the song Lê Kim Duy (Jeffrey's wife), a girl from Saigon, started singing as soon as she arrived in Ninh Chữ."

From Australia, Jeffrey and Duy return to Ninh Chu every October to go kitesurfing. “We surveyed many places from Vung Tau, Mui Ne, to Cam Ranh and decided to choose Ninh Chu as our regular kitesurfing destination. The sea at Ninh Chu is peaceful, clean, and beautiful, with strong and stable winds. Every year, kitesurfing enthusiasts like us make plans to come here to surf and perform acrobatic maneuvers in the air with our colorful kites,” Jeffrey revealed.

It wasn't just Jeffrey and his wife; many foreign tourists were amazed by the wonderful wind and sunshine, and the breathtaking beauty the first time they set foot in Ninh Chu.

Renowned writer Mark Gwyther of City Pass Guide described Ninh Chu as a coastal area with impressive cliffs standing out against the bright blue ocean bathed in golden sunshine. Its dry climate, similar to the Aegean region of Greece, is making Ninh Chu an increasingly popular destination for wind sports enthusiasts like kitesurfing from around the world.

Located right next to Phan Rang - Thap Cham city (Ninh Thuan province), Ninh Chu Beach, stretching 10 km, has been voted one of the 9 most beautiful beaches in Vietnam. The coastline is flat, arc-shaped, with fine golden sand and clear blue water.

Every year, around October, November, and December, kiteboarding enthusiasts from around the world gather here to enjoy the thrill of soaring over the sea with the waves and wind. Ninh Chu beach is windy, making it an ideal destination for kiteboarding enthusiasts.

International destination

Ten years ago, adventurous foreigners who wanted to experience new lands started traveling by motorbike from Mui Ne (Binh Thuan).Heading north, following the coastal road to Phan Rang city (Ninh Thuan province), they passed through white salt fields and vineyards laden with fruit on a narrow, winding single-lane road with small villages and fishing hamlets, before finally reaching Ninh Chu beach. Here, the wind from the ocean blows strongly and continuously.

In 2014, the coastal road was expanded to a breathtakingly beautiful state, making it easy for foreign tourists to reach Ninh Chu beach from Phan Rang city.

Lee Hwa, a young woman from South Korea, was one of the first to discover Ninh Chu Bay as a windy paradise with a stunning crescent-shaped beach. Her group of 10 kiteboarding enthusiasts stayed at Ninh Chu beach for about a month. According to Lee, the waves in Ninh Chu Bay are small, the beach is shallow and gently sloping, and the strong winds make it ideal for practicing new techniques.

Day after day, witnessing foreign tourists kitesurfing, Lai Hoang Phi also tried it and "fell in love" with kitesurfing from the first time he stepped onto the board. He loved the sport that combines waves and wind and decided to start a business with kitesurfing to fulfill his passion.

Recommended by foreign tourists, in 2014, Phi went to My Hoa beach (Ninh Chu) to experience the "specialty" of the wind there. He was captivated by Ninh Chu beach. He calculated the wind speed in units of "nuts." A wind speed of 25-30 "nuts" (a unit of speed measurement, equivalent to one nautical mile per hour) per hour is ideal for kitesurfing. Ninh Chu also has many hours of ideal wind speeds throughout the day and many days of the month. The wind, combined with waves that are not too strong, usually calm and consistent, and many sunny days, is very suitable for kitesurfing.

After opening a kitesurfing training center at My Hoa beach, Phi and his family members bring tourists of all nationalities from Phan Thiet to Ninh Chu to indulge their passion for kitesurfing amidst the blue sea and white sand. During peak season, hundreds of tourists visit and experience this sport at Phi's facility every day.

As the destination gained more recognition, the number of visitors doubled annually. Ninh Chu Beach's reputation also spread further when, in February 2016, Asia's largest professional kitesurfing competition was held there. Numerous images and videos of kitesurfing at Ninh Chu were published in domestic and international media. The Kiteboarder Magazine even voted Ninh Thuan as Vietnam's top international destination for kitesurfing.

Besides kitesurfing, Ninh Chu beach is also a suitable location for playing wind sports such as: windsurfing, sailing.Jet skis… All of this makes this place an international destination with diverse experiences: kitesurfing, sailing, paragliding, indoor skiing…

The sea and wind are not the only "specialties" of Ninh Chu. With a natural area of ​​over 1,200 hectares, the peaceful and clear Nai Lagoon in Ninh Hai can be considered the region's seafood hub, home to approximately 320 species of fish and shrimp. The rocky mountains of Chong, Tan An, and Ca Du, with their large and small stacked rocks, form a beautiful and harmonious natural landscape.
