Why is VinFast offering free electric vehicle charging until mid-2027?
The Vietnamese electric car manufacturer VinFast will allow users of VinFast electric vehicles to charge their batteries for free at V-Green charging stations nationwide from now until June 30, 2027.
The free battery charging policy, lasting for two and a half years, will apply to all current and future VinFast electric vehicle customers. This includes electric vehicle transportation companies, such as Xanh SM, which will receive a 100% discount on charging fees from 10 PM to 6 AM, with a 50% discount on charging fees for other hours, until June 30, 2027.
VinFast stated that this policy is for transportation businesses to help partners optimize charging station efficiency during off-peak hours. This allows them to distribute the number of vehicles charging simultaneously more evenly and efficiently, thereby improving business performance.

Meanwhile, individual customers buying VinFast electric vehicles can save a significant amount on operating costs. In particular, customers who purchase a vehicle bundled with a battery will enjoy completely "zero fuel" costs for the next two years or so.
Quang Anh, an expert in the automotive field, commented: "VinFast's move not only simply supports consumers but also has multifaceted impacts on the market, helping the company increase sales and consolidate its market share sustainably."
VinFast's policy of offering free battery charging for over two years is both a customer care initiative and a shrewd strategic move, creating a ripple effect in the Vietnamese automotive industry. With its foresight and bold move, VinFast is demonstrating how electric vehicles will rapidly and drastically change the game, differentiating them from the traditional gasoline-powered model, the expert added.
Currently, the charging station system is being developed and managed by V-Green Company. This company also has approximately 150,000 charging ports across all 63 provinces and cities nationwide. Alongside the official charging stations directly invested in by V-Green, the implementation of a franchised charging station model will help the company meet the rapid growth of the Vietnamese electric vehicle manufacturer.
According to the latest announcement from VinFast, more than 67,000 electric vehicles of all types have been delivered to the market in the first 11 months of 2024. With a large number of orders awaiting delivery, the title of best-selling car brand in the Vietnamese market this year will likely remain with VinFast.
