Reading the news in the press and on Facebook about the incident at Nghe An Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital, I really liked the response of the Department of Health. When the head of this department said that he would assign the functional departments to study the procedures and prepare a dossier to submit to the competent authority to request recognition as a war invalid for nurse Nguyen Thuy Trang - one of the female medical staff who had acted bravely and was chased and injured by a cruel person to the point of endangering her life.

The reason I liked it was because, right from the first lines of news about the incident in the press, I tried to put myself in the context of the female medical staff, then asked myself if I would dare to face the perpetrators, to do the same actions as them? And then quickly realized, I did not have enough courage. That is why, seeing the actions of the female medical staff, as selfless acts to save people of heroes, worthy of all forms of praise.

And I like it because it shows that the Department of Health has clearly demonstrated the role and responsibility of the direct management agency. It has truly cared about the future of nurse Nguyen Thuy Trang. With the injuries she has to bear, after recovering, Nguyen Thuy Trang will certainly still face difficulties and limitations in her work, and it is necessary to have stable and long-term mental and material support. Here, it is a request to recognize a war invalid, so that Nguyen Thuy Trang can enjoy the preferential treatment of a war invalid!

On this issue, there have been some conflicting discussions after the press and Facebook social network have spread the information. Because it is thought that the proposal to consider and recognize war invalids seems a bit excessive; or war invalids are only for those who participate in armed forces such as the army, police...

Indeed, the Ordinance on preferential treatment for people with revolutionary contributions (Ordinance No. 02/2020/UBTVQH14 dated December 19, 2020) clearly stipulates the criteria for recognizing war invalids. Accordingly, the consideration for recognition as war invalids, the issuance of "War invalid certificates" and "War invalid badges" are for officers, professional soldiers, non-commissioned officers, soldiers in the People's Army and officers, non-commissioned officers, soldiers in the People's Public Security who are injured with a body injury rate of 21% or more.

However, please note that Decree No. 02/2020/UBTVQH14 also clearly stipulates the consideration and recognition of people who are not officers, professional soldiers, non-commissioned officers, soldiers in the People's Army and officers, non-commissioned officers, soldiers in the People's Public Security to enjoy policies like war invalids and to issue "Certificates of people enjoying policies like war invalids" (Clause 2, Article 23, Decree No. 02/2020/UBTVQH14 dated December 19, 2020). The specific condition is that the injured person has a body injury rate of 21% or more because he/she has taken "particularly brave actions to save people, save property of the State, of the people or to prevent and arrest people who have committed crimes, is an example of honor, education, and widely spread in society". Those who meet such conditions will be considered by competent agencies and units to be recognized as beneficiaries of policies for war invalids and issued a "Certificate of beneficiaries of policies for war invalids".

The selfless act of saving a newborn baby by female medical staff at Nghe An Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital is clearly an act of "particular bravery, and is a meaningful example to honor, educate, and spread widely in society". As for nurse Nguyen Thuy Trang, while saving a newborn baby with her colleagues, she was chased and stabbed 11 times by a cruel person, resulting in serious injuries. Therefore, nurse Nguyen Thuy Trang is very worthy of being considered by the competent authority and unit to be recognized as a beneficiary of the same policy as a war invalid.

Furthermore, looking at it from another angle, we can see that the consideration and recognition is not entirely for the individual nurse Nguyen Thuy Trang. Because I believe that when nurse Nguyen Thuy Trang is recognized as a war invalid (or as a war invalid), it will be a source of inspiration for the entire health system of the country, helping them to further enhance their sense of responsibility and dedication to the health of the people; and spreading the spirit of daring to fight against evil and bad things throughout society.

So, this is the right thing to do, it is necessary to do!
