According to witnesses, passengers using the cable car were seriously injured. Many of them risked jumping out of their seats and suffered leg injuries. But many were more severely affected while descending from the mountain range – they were thrown against their seats, hitting their chests.
The elevator accident is believed to have been caused by a power outage – which caused the seats to slide down the cable and collide with each other. Several victims received on-site assistance, and eight were taken to the hospital, seven of whom remain in the hospital ward.
