Although a relatively new member of the Vietnam People's Air Force, the CASA-212 maritime patrol aircraft squadron has made a remarkable mark in the past nearly four years, participating in and successfully completing many new and challenging missions for the Vietnam Air Force.

It was also a proud journey for the patrol aircraft and the officers and soldiers who carried out the mission of being connected to the sea from the air.

Therefore, the courageous sacrifice of the nine crew members on board the CASA-212 aircraft numbered 8983 during the search for the missing Su-20-MK2 fighter jet over the East Sea has left immeasurable grief among the people and soldiers nationwide.
