A video has emerged on social media that is said to show the moment terrorists broke into the Crocus Theatre in Moscow on March 22, causing a deadly shooting, followed by a large fire at the venue.
In the video, the attackers can be seen firing shots through the glass doors, while people in the theater are seen panicking and trying to escape. Some people try to hide behind the theater's furniture. The author of this video is said to be safe after the attack.
At least 137 people were killed and more than 100 injured in the shooting and subsequent fire by a group of gunmen, according to the latest official figures. The attackers stormed the Crocus Theatre, a major music venue just outside the Russian capital. The incident occurred before a performance by the Russian rock band Picnic. The venue, which has an estimated capacity of 7,500, was nearly full.
The terrorists killed unarmed security guards at the entrance of the theater and blocked the entrance before continuing their rampage inside. The attackers then set fire to the building.
On March 23, the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) reported that 11 people, including four terrorists directly involved in the deadly shooting, had been detained. The Russian Investigative Committee also confirmed that four suspects “who carried out a terrorist attack” on the Crocus theater had been arrested in the Bryansk Region, “not far from the border with Ukraine.”
