National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan delivered a speech at the inauguration ceremony.

More than 65 years ago, with the help and support of the family of Mr. Trang Lao Kho and the people of Phieng Sa village, the late President Kaysone Phomvihane and the Lao-Northern Vanguard established the base of the Lao revolution and founded the Itsala Village Army, the predecessor of today's Lao People's Army.

The historical site vividly reflects the solidarity and fighting spirit between Vietnam and Laos in general, and between the people of Son La province and the northern provinces of Laos in particular, during the resistance war against colonial invaders and the defense of the homeland.

The historical site also serves as a valuable source of historical information, contributing to the education of patriotic traditions, the special solidarity, and the unwavering loyalty between Vietnam and Laos. Because of these immense values, the site has been classified as a national historical site of Vietnam.

On behalf of the Party and State leaders, National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan expressed her gratitude and appreciation to the people of Lao Kho village in particular and the people of Son La province in general for their solidarity with the people of the whole country in responding to President Ho Chi Minh's call to follow the Party and the revolution, contributing to the cause of national liberation and helping to build a special solidarity and mutual affection between the people of Vietnam and Laos.

National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan stated that, over the past eight decades, the good traditional relationship and the loyal, pure bond between the people of Vietnam and Laos, founded by President Ho Chi Minh and President Kaysone Phomvihane and diligently nurtured by successive generations of leaders of the two Parties, two States, and the people of the two countries, has become an invaluable shared asset of the two nations.

This special, precious, and sacred relationship was encapsulated by President Ho Chi Minh in four immortal verses: "Though mountains may separate us, we will climb them; though rivers may cross them, we will traverse them; though passes may go through them, Vietnam and Laos, our two countries, have a bond deeper than the Red River and the Mekong River."

Chairman Kaysone Phomvihane also affirmed: “In the history of world revolutions, there have been many shining examples of proletarian internationalism, but nowhere and never before has there been such a special, long-lasting, and comprehensive fighting alliance as the Laos-Vietnam relationship”; “Mountains may wear away, rivers may dry up, but the friendship between Laos and Vietnam will forever remain stronger than mountains and rivers.”

On this occasion, on behalf of the leaders of the Party, State and people of Vietnam, National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan expressed profound gratitude to the Party, State and people of Laos for the solidarity, support and immense, sincere and loyal assistance that they have given to Vietnam from the past to the present.

“The Party, State, and people of Vietnam affirm that they will work together with the Party, State, and people of fraternal Laos to do their utmost to continuously consolidate and develop the traditional friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos, passing it on to future generations. This is considered a vital principle, a law of development, and a factor ensuring the success of the cause of building and defending the Fatherland of each country,” the Chairman of the National Assembly emphasized.

President of the Lao National Assembly Pany Yathotu

Speaking at the ceremony, Lao National Assembly Chairwoman Pany Yathotu expressed her belief that the opening of the historical site would make a significant contribution to nurturing the friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between Laos and Vietnam; becoming a place for educating the people of both countries, especially young people, to better understand the history of the heroic and indomitable fighting alliance and the great sacrifices made by the founding generation of revolutionaries in Laos and Vietnam to regain independence and freedom.

The President of the Lao National Assembly stated that, given the rapidly changing, complex, and unpredictable global and regional situation, coupled with the insidious schemes of hostile forces seeking to undermine the special friendship and solidarity between Laos and Vietnam, this is the most crucial time for the entire Party, army, and people of both countries to work together to promote and preserve this rare relationship, ensuring its continued development and fruitful growth.

It is especially important to educate the people of both countries, especially the youth, about their responsibility in protecting this loyal and steadfast relationship so that it may endure for generations to come.

“Through the important celebratory activities of this year’s year of solidarity and friendship, we have become even more aware of the immense contributions of the first generation of leaders as well as subsequent generations of leaders in strengthening and promoting the special Laos-Vietnam relationship, an alliance, mutual assistance, sharing a vegetable in half, splitting a grain of rice in two, fighting together in the same trenches to defeat a common enemy and together achieving victory step by step,” the President of the Lao National Assembly emphasized.

Lao National Assembly Chairwoman Pany Yathotu expressed her hope that the people of Vietnam and Laos would continue to develop this special relationship, making it an invaluable asset and a fundamental principle of each country's existence and development, for the benefit of the people of Laos and Vietnam, and for the cause of peace, friendship, cooperation, and development in the region and the world.
