Vietnam vs. Australia: Bui Tan Truong or Dang Van Lam?
(Baonghean.vn) - It remains to be seen whether Bui Tan Truong or Dang Van Lam will be used by coach Park Hang-seo in the match between the Vietnam National Team and the Australia National Team, taking place at My Dinh Stadium at 7 PM on September 7th.
Coach Park Hang-seo surprised football experts and fans in Vietnam by including Bui Tan Truong in the starting lineup for the match against Saudi Arabia, despite the presence of Dang Van Lam. This is because, since taking over the hot seat at the Vietnamese national team, Lam "Tay" has always been the South Korean strategist's first choice for the goalkeeper position.

Objectively speaking, Dang Van Lam has performed his assigned duties excellently. The contribution of the goalkeeper, currently playing for Cerezo Osaka, to the overall success of the Vietnamese national team over the past period has been immense. However, coach Park Hang-seo made a very "courageous" decision to continue using Bui Tan Truong, just like in the last three matches of the second qualifying round.
And Bui Tan Truong played quite impressively, with some spectacular saves. Without the excellent performance of the goalkeeper from Dong Thap, the number of goals conceded by the Vietnamese team would certainly have been much higher, given the numerous shots from the home team Saudi Arabia. It is very likely that in the upcoming match against Australia, Coach Park Hang-seo will once again place his trust in Bui Tan Truong.

In many respects, the goalkeeper born in 1986 fully deserves this. Besides his convincing performances against the UAE and, further back, against Malaysia and Indonesia, Bui Tan Truong is also not inferior to Dang Van Lam in terms of height (both 1.88m) and ability to catch high balls. And the Australian players are very good at aerial duels (average height 1.82m, the best in Group B).
Furthermore, the Vietnamese national team's defense will have some unfortunate absences in the match against Australia, for various reasons. While Do Duy Manh is suspended, Tran Dinh Trong and Doan Van Hau are recovering from injuries.
