Imports of animal feed and raw materials are projected to decline in 2025 compared to the previous year, with Argentina and the United States continuing to be the two largest suppliers.

According to preliminary statistics from the Customs Department, the total import value of animal feed and raw materials into Vietnam in 2025 reached over US$4.58 billion, a decrease of 6.4% compared to 2024. This result reflects adjustments in the import of raw materials for domestic livestock farming.

Year-end market developments

Specifically in December 2025, the import value of this product group reached US$395.72 million. Although this represents a 23.3% increase compared to November 2025, the value still decreased by 13.4% when compared to the same period in December 2024.

Analyzing key supply markets

Argentina continues to maintain its position as the largest supplier of animal feed and raw materials to Vietnam. In 2025, imports from this country reached over US$1.68 billion, accounting for 36.6% of the country's total import value. Despite leading the market, imports from Argentina still recorded a 3.7% decrease compared to 2024. In December 2025 alone, the value reached US$75.95 million, a decrease of 32.5% compared to the previous month.

The US market ranked second with a share of 18.8%, equivalent to a value of over $859.32 million, a decrease of 15.4% compared to the same period last year. Notably, imports from the US in December 2025 reached $123.39 million, a sharp increase of 109.3% compared to November 2025, despite a slight decrease of 4.5% compared to December 2024.

Brazil is the third largest trading partner, with trade turnover reaching US$442.79 million in 2025, accounting for 9.7% of total trade turnover and decreasing by 19.9% ​​compared to 2024. In December 2025, imports from Brazil reached US$11.91 million, an increase of 92.8% compared to November but a decrease of 46.5% compared to the same period last year.
