Vietnam shares its condolences with the people of Ecuador for the losses caused by the earthquake.
Regarding the recent earthquake in Ecuador that killed and injured hundreds of people, on April 18, 2016, the Spokesperson of the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Le Hai Binh, shared:
“We are deeply saddened to witness the series of natural disasters that have occurred in recent days in several countries, most recently the earthquake in Ecuador which has claimed hundreds of lives and left thousands suffering immense emotional and material losses.”

Vietnam expresses its deepest condolences to the Government and people of Ecuador for their suffering and loss, and hopes that Ecuador will soon overcome these difficulties and continue to stabilize and develop.”
Regarding the situation of Vietnamese citizens here, Spokesperson of the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs Le Hai Binh stated:
"According to information from the Vietnamese Embassy in Chile, which also covers Ecuador, there are no Vietnamese citizens residing in the earthquake-affected area. The Vietnamese Embassy in Chile, which also covers Ecuador, is continuing to coordinate with local authorities to find out more about whether any Vietnamese citizens have been affected by the earthquake in order to provide assistance."
