Vietnam welcomed nearly 14 million international tourists in the first eight months of the year.

According to the General Statistics Office, favorable visa policies, intensified tourism promotion programs, and activities celebrating major national holidays have attracted an increasing number of international visitors to Vietnam.

Specifically, in August 2025, the number of international visitors to our country reached 1.68 million, an increase of 7.8% compared to the previous month and an increase of 16.5% compared to the same period last year.

Overall, in the first eight months of 2025, the number of international visitors to Vietnam reached 13.9 million, an increase of 21.7% compared to the same period last year.

Of these, 11.9 million visitors arrived by air, accounting for 85.2% of international visitors and increasing by 22.6% compared to the same period last year; 1.9 million arrived by land, accounting for 13.4% and increasing by 17.5%; and 187,800 arrived by sea, accounting for 1.4% and increasing by 13.4%.

According to the report, tourism revenue for the first eight months of 2025 is estimated at VND 61.2 trillion, accounting for 1.3% of the total and increasing by 20.3% compared to the same period last year. Revenue for the first eight months of 2025 compared to the same period last year in some localities is as follows: Ho Chi Minh City increased by 24.0%; Hanoi increased by 20.9%; Vinh Long increased by 19.8%; Quang Tri increased by 18.0%; Quang Ninh increased by 17.2%.

In addition, the culture, entertainment, and tourism group increased by 0.08%, mainly concentrated in the following groups: hotel and guesthouse prices increased by 1.79%; sports venue rentals increased by 0.19%; overseas travel services increased by 0.09%; and movie and concert tickets increased by 0.04%. Conversely, domestic tourism decreased by 0.15% due to travel companies implementing promotional programs and discounts to stimulate consumer demand.
