Vietnam wins first prize at the WeCode 2015 international programming competition.

Vu Duy Hieu, a student from FPT Secondary School, excellently brought home a First Prize in the Advanced category – the award for the most creative game design – for the Vietnamese delegation at the WeCode 2015 international programming competition for high school students.

The WeCode 2015 International Programming Competition for High School Students is an activity within the series of events of the 2015 Digital Technology Camp organized by the YOU (Youth On Unity) Association.

Held on December 6, 2015 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, with the participation of 136 teams from four Southeast Asian countries including Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia, and the Philippines, the WeCode 2015 competition, themed "Cybersecurity," was organized to promote students' passion for programming, help them improve their programming skills, cultivate a love for programming, hone high-level thinking abilities, problem-solving skills, creative thinking, and develop integrated skills in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).

The Vietnamese delegation participating in WeCode 2015 consisted of 14 students divided into 8 teams (2 individuals, 6 teams of 2 people) from Vinschool Primary School and FPT Secondary School.

The Vietnamese student delegation won 2 out of 4 team prizes at the WeCode 2015 international programming competition for high school students.

According to the rules, participants in the WeCode 2015 competition must create software products using the Scratch programming language or any other programming language to design games, entertainment programs, or animated films. There are four levels for students to choose from: Beginner (6-9 years old); Intermediate (10-12 years old); Advanced (13-15 years old); and Expert (16-18 years old).

Regarding the prize structure of the WeCode 2015 competition, in addition to 4 Team prizes for teams with the best teamwork and products, there are also 15 prizes in the Beginner category, 21 prizes in the Intermediate category, and 3 prizes in the Advanced category.

According to the latest results announced by DTT Eduspec Joint Stock Company - the unit leading the Vietnamese student delegation to the WeCode 2015 competition, after one day of competition, the Vietnamese student delegation excellently won 3 awards. These include 1 award for the most creative game design - First Prize in the Advanced category, awarded to Vu Duy Hieu from FPT Secondary School; and 2 Team awards for the Beginner and Intermediate categories, respectively, awarded to Vinschool Primary School (Nguyen Ha My, Pham Phuong Linh) and FPT Secondary School (Nguyen Quang Dang, Le Gia Bao).
