Taiwan's (China) conducting live-fire exercises in the waters surrounding Ba Binh Island, part of Vietnam's Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelago, constitutes a serious violation of Vietnam's territorial sovereignty over this archipelago.

On March 31, 2023, in response to a reporter's question about Vietnam's reaction to Taiwan's (China) announcement of conducting live-fire exercises in the waters surrounding Ba Binh Island, part of Vietnam's Truong Sa (Spratly) Islands, Deputy Spokesperson of the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs Pham Thu Hang stated: As has been repeatedly affirmed, Taiwan's (China) organization of live-fire exercises in the waters surrounding Ba Binh Island, part of Vietnam's Truong Sa (Spratly) Islands, is a serious violation of Vietnam's territorial sovereignty over these islands; threatens peace, stability, safety, and maritime security; and further complicates the situation in the East Sea.
Vietnam resolutely opposes and demands that Taiwan (China) cancel the aforementioned illegal activities and refrain from repeating similar violations.
