On March 31, 2023, in response to a reporter's question about Vietnam's reaction to Taiwan (China) announcing the conduct of live-fire drills in the waters surrounding Ba Binh, part of Vietnam's Truong Sa archipelago, Deputy Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Pham Thu Hang stated: As has been affirmed many times, Taiwan (China)'s organization of live-fire drills in the waters surrounding Ba Binh, part of Vietnam's Truong Sa archipelago is an act of serious infringement of Vietnam's territorial sovereignty over this archipelago; threatening peace, stability, safety and maritime security; further complicating the situation in the East Sea.
Vietnam resolutely protests and requests that Taiwan (China) cancel the above illegal activities and not repeat similar violations.
