Vietnam approves emergency vaccine from Cuba.
On September 17, the Ministry of Health conditionally approved the Abdala vaccine from Cuba for urgent needs in the prevention and control of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The Abdala vaccine is manufactured by AICA Laboraries, Base Business Unit (BBU) AICA; it is semi-finished and secondary packaged at the Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (CIGB), Cuba.
In Vietnam, the Center for Research, Production of Vaccines and Medical Biological Products (POLYVAC) is the institution that proposed this vaccine for approval.
Each 0.5 ml dose of Abdala vaccine contains 50 mcg of recombinant protein vaccine containing the receptor-binding region (RBG) of nCoV, formulated as an intramuscular suspension. The vaccine is packaged in boxes of 10 vials, each containing 10 doses.

Cuba approved the emergency use of the domestically produced Abdala vaccine starting July 9th.CubaThey are researching five types of vaccines. In May, they began vaccinating people using two of these, the Abdala and Soberana 2 vaccines, even before they were approved.
Thus, Abdala is the eighth COVID-19 vaccine to receive emergency authorization from Vietnam. The seven vaccines already authorized for use and currently being administered in Vietnam are: AstraZeneca, SputnikV, Johnson & Johnson, Moderna, Pfizer, Sinopharm, and Hayat-Vax.
