According to public information, the T-90S/SK tanks transferred to Vietnam by Russia are equipped with weapons produced in Vietnam.

According to the Russian Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation, the country has begun delivering T-90S/SK tanks to Vietnamese customers. "As a result of a series of negotiations between Russian and Vietnamese experts, a contract for the supply of T-90S and T-90SK tanks has been signed. Currently, the parties have begun implementing the contract," the agency said. |

Rated as the tank line with the world's leading comprehensive offensive and defensive power, Vietnam's T-90 tank is equipped with extremely modern equipment and weapons. In terms of firepower, both versions of the T-90 sold to Vietnam are equipped with the main weapon, a 125 mm 2A46 smoothbore gun with an automatic loading system and 22 ready bullets. |
In addition to the standard 2A46 ammunition that can be fired, the T-90S can also launch AT-11 Sniper anti-tank missiles through the barrel to destroy enemies from a distance of up to 5,000 m, targets including tanks with explosive reactive armor and low-flying helicopters. |
In particular, Vietnam's T-90 tank versions are also equipped with a 12.7mm automatic machine gun complex - a weapon line that Vietnam has successfully produced and tested. |
The 12.7mm gun complex can be deployed on various military vehicles such as ships and boats using a remote control system combined with a target designation camera, bringing the direct aiming line on the gun body to the control screen for the gunner to aim and shoot. |
The barrel is slotted to increase cooling capacity, and is fitted with a large recoil reduction device. The gun's ammunition belt is designed quite specially, and every 5 or 3 armor-piercing bullets are loaded with a flame bullet that acts as a guide during night shooting or in low-light environments. |
Incendiary bullets help the shooter observe the trajectory of the bullets to promptly adjust the aiming line. This type of bullet also has the same lethal effect as armor-piercing bullets. The 12.7mm bullet can also penetrate 15mm of steel at a distance of 500m. |
The gun uses a pneumatic loading mechanism, firing speed of 800 rounds/minute. The initial velocity of the bullet is 845m/s, effective range of 1.5km when anti-aircraft and 2km when attacking ground targets. Along with the automatic capability, the gun is also designed with an auxiliary handle in the front to help move the gun easily. The regular version can be equipped with an optical sight for more accurate shooting. |
Today, the gun is used in the armies of nearly 50 countries, making it one of the most popular heavy machine guns in the world. In Vietnam, the gun is equipped on warships, improved versions of T-54/55 tanks and many other vehicles. |
