At the SEA Games, the Indonesian women's teams suffered heavy defeats against Vietnam in both football and futsal, with a total score of 13-1, causing a wave of disappointment among Indonesian fans.
In women's football, the Indonesian team lost 0-5 to the Vietnamese women's team in the semi-final match on December 14th. Despite fielding four naturalized players – Iris de Rouw, Emily Nahon, De Zeeuw, and Warps Ipa Guusje – the Indonesian team was completely overwhelmed throughout the 90 minutes and failed to make any significant impact.

Many others acknowledged the widening gap in skill level between the two football nations. "Whether it's football or futsal, we lose to Vietnam, men's or women's teams lose to Vietnam!" one user bluntly wrote. Meanwhile, another questioned: "What's happening? I thought we'd improve, but unexpectedly we lost 0-5 again in the futsal final."
Even Indonesia's long-term football development strategy has been called into question. One fan sarcastically remarked, "I thought we were upgrading our football to aim for the World Cup, but it turns out we're still stuck in Southeast Asia?" These reactions reflect the significant psychological shock Indonesian fans faced after witnessing the women's national teams' consecutive defeats against Vietnam.
