Vietnam wins big at 'Tourism Oscars'

At the World Travel Awards 2017, Vietnam's tourism industry won in the three most important categories.

On the evening of December 10 at JW Marriott Phu Quoc Emerald Bay resort (Phu Quoc, Kien Giang), the Organizing Committee of the World Travel Awards 2017 presented the awards considered the global "Oscars in the tourism industry".

This is the second time Vietnam has been chosen as the venue for the most important event of the year for the world and regional tourism industry.

At the award ceremony, Vietnam was named in the three most prestigious categories.

Accordingly, InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort (Da Nang) has set an unprecedented record in the history of the world tourism industry when it was honored for the fourth consecutive time as "World's Most Luxurious Resort".

In 2017, InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort successfully surpassed 30 representatives from all continents, the number of candidates 3 times higher than in 2016 to win the above category.

In addition, JW Marriott Phu Quoc Emerald Bay resort was awarded "World's Most Luxurious New Resort".

The third prestigious award belongs to Vietravel travel company.

After 5 consecutive years of winning in the Asia-Pacific region, this year, surpassing 5 candidates, Vietravel has become the first and only Vietnamese travel company to be honored as "World's Leading Package Tour Operator 2017".

Also at the awards night, a number of other important categories were also named. Specifically, the title of “World’s Best Airline” belonged to Singapore Airlines. The category of “World’s Leading Hotel” was awarded to The Oberoi Udaivillas (India). Norwegian Cruise Line (Norway) received the title of “World’s Leading Cruise Ship” and Portugal was honored as “World’s Leading Destination”.

The World Travel Awards has been held 24 times and is considered the most prestigious award on the planet with the participation of experts and senior executives in the field of resort tourism from more than 140 countries and territories around the world.

The fact that Vietnamese businesses and destinations have been continuously honored with world tourism awards has further highlighted Vietnamese destinations in the eyes of international friends, contributing to the implementation of Resolution 08 of the Politburo to soon turn tourism into a spearhead economic sector.
