Viettel offers a free 7-day trial of high-quality VoLTE calls.
Viettel Telecommunications Corporation announced that it is implementing a promotional program to enhance the mobile voice and data service experience for users.
Accordingly, all Viettel mobile subscribers currently using phones without VoLTE functionality will receive the following benefits to upgrade to phones that support VoLTE:
(1) Free 7-day VoLTE voice trial with 5 minutes of on-net calls/day.
(2) Get a discount of 500,000 VND when buying Samsung A05, A06, M15 phones with the 6V120B package.
(3) Buy cheap 4G Feature phone models from only 390,000 VND/unit.
This support program aims to encourage customers to switch to 4G/5G VoLTE voice services – which is also one of the next steps to prepare for the complete shutdown of 2G networks in September 2026 and gradually improve the quality of telecommunications infrastructure.
Previously, in December 2023, the Ministry of Information and Communications issued Circular No. 20/2023/TT-BTTTT, stipulating that from July 1, 2024, mobile phones using Ultra (4G) technology manufactured or imported into Vietnam must support VoLTE voice functionality. This standard aims to ensure that all mobile communication terminal devices permitted to circulate on the market meet technical standards, contributing to improving service quality and protecting consumer rights.
Why upgrade to VoLTE voice calls?
VoLTE (Voice over Long-Term Evolution) is a high-quality voice service on 4G/5G networks that allows customers to make voice calls with faster connection times and better sound quality compared to regular calls on 2G/3G networks; enabling you to make voice calls and access 4G/5G data simultaneously without interruption.
At the same time, when 2G/3G networks are shut down, voice services on the 2G/3G infrastructure will be unavailable. Therefore, it is necessary to switch to VoLTE voice services to continue using voice services. Furthermore, many foreign network operators have shut down 2G/3G networks, so when customers are roaming, they are forced to use VoLTE voice services.
VoLTE also serves as a platform for providing new voice services in the future, such as video waiting (mecall) and video calls.
Regarding VoLTE voice service charges, customers do not have to pay any extra fees compared to regular voice services on the 2G/3G infrastructure. Existing service packages are not affected, and customers' data usage will not be consumed.
