Viettel Nghe An strives to reach new heights

(Baonghean) - After more than 10 years of presence in the Nghe An market, Viettel Nghe An has increasingly affirmed its position as the telecommunications service provider with the largest infrastructure and coverage in the province, with annual revenue of up to thousands of billions of VND, contributing significantly to the state budget. In addition, the unit also creates jobs for 2,500 workers in Nghe An and actively implements the province's social security policies.

Leading telecommunications service provider

With constant efforts and creativity, Viettel Nghe An has continuously exceeded and fully completed assigned targets and tasks, increasingly better meeting the requirements of communication; contributing greatly to the economic and social development of the province. The enterprise has created jobs for more than 2,500 local workers, at the same time opening up business opportunities in the telecommunications industry, increasing income for thousands of people.

Total service subscribers as of 2015 reached 1,845,267 subscribers, of which: mobile subscribers reached 1,806,742 subscribers, the penetration rate of subscribers/population was 59.8%; fixed subscribers reached 31,229 subscribers, the penetration rate/number of households was 4%; solution subscribers reached 7,296 subscribers, the penetration rate/total number of Enterprises reached 60.8%.

In 2015, Viettel Nghe An broadcast 95 new stations, increasing the total network to 1,290 2G stations and 901 3G stations, ensuring 2G coverage/population of 99.2%; 3G coverage/population of 90%. In addition, nearly 6,500 km of fiber optic cable was deployed and put into use by Viettel Nghe An, bringing the number of communes with fiber optic cable to 450/480 communes, reaching 94%.

In the first six months of 2016, despite facing common difficulties in the telecommunications market, Viettel Nghe An has made continuous efforts to complete its set goals, with total revenue reaching over 900 billion VND, contributing over 70 billion VND to the state budget in the province.

In parallel with its business mission, as a military enterprise, Viettel Nghe An also carries out the task of ensuring communications, as an A2 combat network ready to serve national defense and security. Up to now, Viettel waves have covered 100% of border posts and communes along the Vietnam - Laos border. Viettel waves have reached far into the sea and islands at a distance of 100 km from the mainland, serving the mission requirements of the border guards, coast guard and military forces on Mat Island and Ngu Island, contributing to protecting the borders and territorial waters of the Fatherland; at the same time serving the communication needs of fishermen when fishing far from shore.

2014 marked a proud milestone in the development of Viettel Nghe An, when the unit completed broadcasting in the last commune without signal in Nghe An in Huu Khuong commune (Tuong Duong). Since then, Nghe An has become a province with 100% of wards and communes having Viettel mobile signal, as committed by the Military Telecommunications Group to the province.

With the desire to bring IT applications into every corner of life as it has succeeded in the telecommunications field. Over the years, Viettel Nghe An has always been a pioneer in providing application solutions in production and business activities. A series of Viettel's breakthrough IT solutions have been put into use, contributing significantly to helping agencies, businesses, and administrative units; reduce management and operating costs, and improve competitiveness.

Typical examples include: customs declaration software, social insurance declaration, digital signature authentication, electronic document management software, Bulk SMS messaging system, transmission channels, conference video conferencing, business management software, hospitals, positioning systems, surveillance cameras... Especially recently, Viettel Nghe An has cooperated with Nghe An Social Insurance to successfully deploy the "Health Insurance Appraisal System".

Currently, the relevant units are rushing to complete the task of synchronizing data of the entire social insurance appraisal system for all medical facilities. It is believed that the widespread deployment of this system will be a useful solution to help medical facilities shorten the process and time in administrative procedures and payment stages, while eliminating the situation of overspending the local health insurance fund.

Accompanying the implementation of social security policies

Along with creative efforts in production and business activities, Viettel's business philosophy is "business associated with social responsibility". Since its establishment, Viettel Nghe An has always paid attention to social security work for the people of the province. Special attention is paid to investing in education, contributing to charity funds, building charity houses with an average annual budget of about 1 billion VND.

Over the past 10 years, Viettel Nghe An has donated nearly 70 gratitude houses, comrade houses, 100 dong houses... In 2014 and 2015, Viettel Nghe An coordinated with the Provincial Association for Promotion of Education and the Department of Education and Training to award 2,380 "For studious children" scholarships in 119 poor communes, equivalent to 2.38 billion VND. This is a meaningful program for poor children who overcome difficulties to excel in their studies, lasting for 10 years; with an annual budget of up to 1.19 billion VND.

In recent years, in addition to the annual social security activities, Viettel Nghe An has paid special attention to and contributed to the work of hunger eradication, poverty reduction, and improving the lives of people in remote border areas. In 2015, Viettel Nghe An made its mark with a series of charity programs for the community, with a total budget of nearly 60 billion VND.

The most prominent program is "Joining hands for the community - breeding cows to help the poor in the border areas", donating a total of 3,659 breeding cows to 3,659 poor households in 6 border districts, including: Thanh Chuong, Anh Son, Que Phong, Con Cuong, Tuong Duong, Ky Son; with a total implementation cost of nearly 55 billion VND.

In 2016, continuing the success of the series of social activities, Viettel Nghe An continued to implement programs such as: "Bridge of Love" put into use Na Cho bridge in Cam Muon commune, Que Phong district, worth 5 billion VND; New bridge in Lien Thanh commune, Yen Thanh district, worth 1.9 billion VND; presented 3 gratitude houses from the program "House of 100 VND" with a total value of 240 million VND; organized the replacement and installation of flower vases at martyrs' cemeteries in the whole province with over 4,600 martyrs' graves.

Particularly in this August, Viettel Nghe An cooperated with the Provincial People's Committee to implement the program "Giving 2,000 tons of cement" to the border people worth 2.95 billion VND. It is expected that from now until September 2016, the program will give all the above cement to households in 15 highland communes in the province, in the districts: Thanh Chuong, Anh Son, Con Cuong, Que Phong, Tuong Duong and Ky Son.

Over the years, Viettel Nghe An has always accompanied TSMT programs, supporting students in Nghe An province.

Continuing the achievements, Viettel Nghe An commits to always strive to expand its operations to improve production and business efficiency, promote social programs, contribute to poverty reduction, social security, and develop the province. At the same time, it will successfully complete the task of ensuring national defense and security, worthy of being the leading economic development military enterprise in Vietnam.
