Viettel is making efforts to recruit the duo Trieu Viet Hung and Pham Trung Hieu.

Viettel Club is showing particular interest and making efforts to reach an agreement to recruit defenders Trieu Viet Hung and Pham Trung Hieu from Hai Phong. The military team is negotiating to bring these two stars to play for them starting from the 2026/27 season, aiming to realize their goal of competing for titles in the near future.

Pham Trung Hieu - A powerful tactical approach

Notably, Viettel decided to shift their focus to Pham Trung Hieu after failing to secure the signature of Vu Van Thanh as initially planned. The 1998-born defender is highly regarded by experts for his excellent physical fitness, impressive speed, and effective defensive support capabilities.

In the past, Trung Hieu was trusted by coach Philippe Troussier and called up to the Vietnamese national team in September 2023. He even earned a starting spot in the match against Palestine. However, a serious injury after only 7 minutes of play forced the defender to leave the field early and he has been absent from the national team ever since. His move to Viettel is expected to be a boost that will help him regain his peak form.

Besides Trung Hieu, Trieu Viet Hung is also a key target for Viettel thanks to his versatility and modern footballing mindset. Originally a central midfielder from the HAGL academy, Viet Hung has made remarkable progress since moving to Hai Phong.

Under the guidance of strategist Chu Đình Nghiêm, Việt Hưng has completely transformed, adapting well to the left-back role. His ability to control the game from the back and his highly accurate crosses have made him one of the most complete attacking and defensive full-backs in the V-League today.

Viettel's aggressive pursuit comes at a time when Hai Phong FC is facing personnel difficulties. Previously, the team had to part ways with coach Chu Dinh Nghiem when he decided to move to Ninh Binh. In addition, defender Bui Tien Dung also chose to join Truong Tuoi Dong Nai FC.
