Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Thanh – Regional Sales Director of Ho Chi Minh City, spoke at the seminar.

Useful activities such as bone density testing and health care counseling for the elderly attracted nearly 2,000 participants. In addition, a team of reputable doctors provided advice, helping the elderly gain more information about their own nutrition and how to care for the health of their family members.

In 2016, Vinamilk also organized more than 30 health care workshops for nearly 80,000 elderly people nationwide. The series of workshops not only provided a meeting and networking opportunity for the elderly but also spread the spirit of improving health and building exercise habits among the elderly community in Vietnam.

This is also the goal Vinamilk aims for and strives to maintain, contributing values to the community—something that a sustainably developing business always focuses on.

At this workshop, Dr. Le Kim Hue, Head of the Health Communication and Education Department at the Ho Chi Minh City Nutrition Center, presented information on health nutrition for the elderly, with a particular focus on daily dietary habits.

To prevent cardiovascular disease, older adults should eat just enough to meet their body's needs to avoid being overweight or obese, and should use "plant sterols"—plant-based fats that help prevent the absorption of cholesterol into the bloodstream from food, thereby reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease.

Daily food intake should consist of protein-rich, low-fat foods such as lean meat without skin, chicken, duck, fish, low-fat milk, and legumes. In addition, dietary measures to prevent osteoporosis and osteoarthritis were emphasized by doctors at the workshop. Foods rich in calcium and vitamin D, such as milk, shrimp, fish, and soy products, are recommended.

At the end of the program, the doctor gave helpful and specific nutritional advice for the elderly, such as reducing rice intake, using vegetable oil for cooking, exercising for 30 minutes each day, and choosing appropriate milk.
