VinFast registers design plans for two large electric SUV models: Aggressive design comparable to the VF 9.
Two new luxury electric SUV models from VinFast have just been revealed in the Industrial Property Gazette, showcasing imposing physiques; one model has a modern look, while the other has a rugged style.
Vietnamese automaker VinFast has officially registered industrial design protection for two brand-new all-electric SUV models in Vietnam. Based on the released images, both models have similar dimensions to the current VinFast VF 9, indicating the company's strategy to expand its product range in the premium electric vehicle segment.
Modern design language and a rugged American SUV style.
The first SUV in the registration showcases a modern design language with many soft, rounded lines. The body is seamlessly sculpted, with taillights integrated into a large black trim panel at the rear. This detail shares many similarities with the new design style of the recent generation VinFast VF 8, leading experts to predict that this could be a comprehensive upgrade of the VF 9 in the future.
In contrast to the first model, the second SUV makes a strong impression with its boxy shape and sharp lines. This design bears the hallmarks of full-size SUVs from the US, reminiscent of the style of the older Land Rover Discovery. With this rugged appearance, the new model promises to attract customers who prioritize individuality and versatile off-road capabilities.
Purely electric powertrain technology and optimized aerodynamics.
Both SUV models are equipped with features characteristic of next-generation electric vehicles, such as hidden door handles and enclosed wheel designs to optimize aerodynamics. The completely enclosed grille confirms that these are purely electric vehicles. Developing new models on an improved chassis platform and optimized battery technology could significantly increase the driving range compared to the current 600 km of the VF 9.
Interior space and smart safety features
Although detailed interior images have not been fully revealed, sources suggest the cabin will inherit a minimalist and luxurious style. The car is expected to feature a flat-bottomed steering wheel, a large central display screen, and advanced driver assistance features (ADAS) and an AI-integrated virtual assistant.
Furthermore, the simultaneous registration of two different models shows that VinFast is clearly differentiating the intended use for customers. One model focuses on family use and urban commuting, while the other is geared towards a robust off-road style. Currently, the company has not announced detailed specifications or the official launch date for these models.
