The VinFast VF 3 is a small electric car (mini car) that has received significant attention in the Vietnamese market thanks to its unique design, high ground clearance, and accessible price. Opening up the mid-range urban electric vehicle segment, the VF 3 targets customers seeking a flexible daily transportation option or a second car for their family.

Currently, the VinFast VF 3 is distributed in a single version. According to the policy effective from March 1, 2025, the Vietnamese automaker has discontinued the battery leasing policy and switched to selling the vehicle with a complete battery pack. In addition, electric vehicles powered by batteries continue to benefit from a 100% exemption from registration fees under Decree 51/2025/ND-CP until February 28, 2027, along with a free charging program at public charging stations lasting until the end of June 2027.

Besides its distinctive blocky design, the VinFast VF 3 boasts overall dimensions of 3,190 x 1,679 x 1,622 mm (length x width x height) and a wheelbase of 2,075 mm. Compared to its competitor, the Wuling Hongguang Mini EV (2,920 x 1,493 x 1,621 mm, wheelbase 1,940 mm), the VF 3 is larger in every aspect, giving it a more imposing appearance and a more spacious cabin.
A standout feature of the VF 3 is its ground clearance of 191 mm, comparable to many B-segment SUVs, allowing it to easily climb curbs or navigate through lightly flooded areas. The 16-inch, five-spoke, gloss black alloy wheels with 175/75 R16 tires create a robust appearance. Details such as the front and rear bumpers, wheel arch trims, and rearview mirrors all utilize dark-colored plastic that contrasts with the body paint.

The interior of the VinFast VF 3 is designed with minimalism in mind to optimize usable space. The car has a four-seat configuration with fabric upholstery, and the front seats are manually adjustable in four directions. The steering wheel features a sporty two-spoke D-cut design, with integrated electronic gear shifters behind it, similar to luxury cars, allowing for neat operation and freeing up space in the center console.
At the center of the dashboard is a 10-inch touchscreen supporting Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, integrated with a 2-speaker entertainment system, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth. The VinFast VF 3 is equipped with a rear-wheel drive (RWD) electric motor, producing a maximum power of 43 horsepower and a maximum torque of 110 Nm. The car accelerates from 0–50 km/h in approximately 5.3 seconds, providing good throttle response when quick acceleration is needed in urban areas.
The 18.64 kWh LFP battery pack provides a maximum driving range of approximately 210 km on a single full charge. In terms of charging time, the VF 3 takes about 5 hours to charge from 10% to 70% with a standard charger, while DC fast charging takes only 36 minutes for the same level.
Core safety equipment
To ensure safety during travel, VinFast equips the VF 3 with anti-lock braking system (ABS), emergency brake assist (BA), electronic brake force distribution (EBD), vehicle stability control (VSC), traction control system (TCS), and hill-start assist. In addition, the car also has a driver's airbag, rear parking sensors, a rearview camera, and an automatic door locking system when the vehicle is in motion.
Overall assessment
Besides its strong points such as a distinctive design, a high ground clearance of 191 mm for good off-road capability, and economical running costs, the VinFast VF 3 still has some limitations, such as its two-door design making access to the rear seats less convenient, and a small luggage compartment when carrying four people. Overall, with an on-the-road price of around 300-320 million VND, the VF 3 remains a worthwhile option for daily commuting in the city.
