VinFast has just launched the new generation VF 8 with a new chassis platform and autonomous electronic system. This D-segment electric SUV boasts a driving range of 500 km and FSD damping technology.
The new generation VinFast VF 8 is a D-segment electric SUV recently launched by the Vietnamese automaker, notable for its complete autonomy in electronic technology, thermal management system, and chassis refinement by a team of domestic engineers.
Technical specifications and exterior design
In terms of dimensions, the new generation VinFast VF 8 maintains the same length x width x height specifications of 4,701 x 1,872 x 1,670 mm, along with a wheelbase of 2,840 mm. With a ground clearance of 170 mm and 19-inch wheels, this model ensures flexible maneuverability in various traffic conditions.
The car's exterior has been refined with a wide, glossy black grille, combined with the distinctive wing-shaped daytime running lights. The window line is swept upwards towards the rear, creating a strong aerodynamic effect, while the body panels on the doors are smoothly finished to optimize light reflection while in motion.
The interior design focuses on the technological experience.
The interior of the new VF 8 is designed with minimalism and an emphasis on ergonomics. The biggest highlight is the 12.9-inch central infotainment screen that integrates most control features. VinFast has also added a small screen behind the steering wheel and a new gear shift lever, helping drivers focus more on the journey.
The vehicle's amenities include a dual-zone automatic climate control system with air ionization and a Combi 1.0 filter. The driver's seat is 6-way power adjustable with memory function, while the rear seats can be folded flat in a 60:40 ratio to expand the luggage compartment.
Chassis platform and performance
Notably, the new generation VF 8 utilizes Frequency Selective Dampers (FSD) adaptive damping technology on both axles. This system can automatically adjust the stiffness or softness of the suspension depending on road conditions, providing a smoother and more stable ride.
The vehicle is equipped with a Central Vehicle Computer (CVC) architecture to coordinate the entire electrical and electronic system, following the trend of software-controlled vehicles (SDV). The electric motor provides 170 kW (equivalent to 228 horsepower) and 330 Nm of torque, coupled with front-wheel drive.
