Honoring journalists in President Ho Chi Minh's homeland.
(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of June 20th, the Provincial People's Committee, the Nghe An Journalists Association, and the Department of Information and Communications organized an event.Celebrating the 92nd anniversary of the Vietnamese Revolutionary Press Day, the Nghe An Journalism Awards Ceremony 2016, and launching the campaign to participate in the National Journalism Award on Party Building - the Golden Hammer and Sickle Award 2017.

In his opening remarks at the commemoration ceremony, Comrade Tran Duy Ngoan, Chairman of the Nghe An Provincial Journalists Association, affirmed the revolutionary journalistic qualities and the contributions of press agencies and journalistic activities in the province to the socio-economic development of the province.
The quality of journalistic works and journalistic forms in Nghe An is constantly developing and improving. However, there are still some limitations that need to be overcome to enhance the effectiveness of journalism, to truthfully and vividly reflect all aspects of life and the development of the homeland, to continue to effectively fulfill the professional goals and requirements as well as the tasks assigned by the province; to create social consensus and disseminate the guidelines and policies of the Party and the State.

| Attending the ceremony were: Comrade Le Quang Huy - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; members of the Provincial Party Standing Committee: Comrade Le Minh Thong - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Comrade Cao Thi Hien - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Comrade Nguyen Huu Lam - Head of the Provincial Party Organization Department; Comrade Nguyen Thi Thu Huong - Secretary of the Party Committee of the Provincial Agencies Bloc; Comrade Tran Quang Manh - Deputy Head of the Political Department of Military Region 4; leaders of departments, agencies, mass organizations, leaders of districts and cities, leaders of press agencies, and a large number of journalists in Nghe An province. |
At the same time, it affirms the determination of journalists in President Ho Chi Minh's homeland to produce high-quality works, participate in provincial and national journalism awards, and affirm the role of revolutionary Vietnamese journalists.
Speaking at the ceremony, Comrade Le Quang Huy, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, acknowledged the positive contributions of press agencies in the province to the socio-economic development of Nghe An province.

The comrade affirmed: "The press agencies in the province have actively innovated in terms of form and content of propaganda, increasing the number of special pages and sections, with many high-quality articles and reports, creating a positive social impact in areas such as Party building, the 'Learning and following the thoughts, ethics, and style of Ho Chi Minh' movement, the fight against corruption and negativity, building new rural areas, the 'skillful mass mobilization' movement, and patriotic emulation movements..."
Through this, we have promptly identified, encouraged, and supported exemplary individuals and good deeds in all fields, resolutely combating negativity, corruption, and social evils... contributing to creating consensus with the Party Committee, military, and people of the province to achieve success in socio-economic development tasks and maintain national defense and security."

The Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee also urged the staff, reporters, and employees of media agencies to continuously improve their ethics and professional skills, affirm the political integrity of journalists, actively promote the image of Nghe An province to friends at home and around the world; and actively participate in journalism awards, especially the Golden Hammer and Sickle Award, to create a ripple effect and motivation to improve the quality and effectiveness of information and propaganda work on Party building, contributing to building a clean and strong political system.

Launching the 2017 Party Building Journalism Award, Comrade Le Quang Huy emphasized: The theme of this year's Golden Hammer and Sickle Award continues to focus on Party building and rectification; preventing and repelling the decline in political ideology, morality, and lifestyle, and the manifestations of "self-evolution" and "self-transformation" within the Party; building clean and strong grassroots Party organizations; improving the quality of cadres and Party members; building a streamlined and effective organizational structure for the entire political system; strengthening the fight against corruption, waste, and bureaucracy; and the "Study and follow the thoughts, morality, and style of Ho Chi Minh"...
At the commemoration ceremony, after provincial leaders presented flowers to congratulate the press agencies on Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day, journalist Chu Thi Khanh Ly - representing the group of authors who won the B Prize in the first Golden Hammer and Sickle Award of Nghe An Newspaper - on behalf of the province's journalists, pledged to participate in the second season of the award in 2017.

Recognizing the contributions of the collective and individuals of press agencies in the province to journalistic activities, the commemoration ceremony included the awarding of Certificates of Merit from the Prime Minister and the Emulation Flag from the Ministry of Public Security to the collective of cadres, reporters, and staff of Nghe An Newspaper.

On this occasion, Comrade Nguyen Xuan Son - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council, and 9 members of the Nghe An Provincial Journalists Association were awarded the "For the Cause of Vietnamese Journalism" commemorative medal.
The Vietnam Journalists Association awarded Certificates of Merit to the Nghe An Journalists Association and two individuals for their outstanding achievements in professional work and association building in 2016.

Twenty-five journalistic works were recognized by the Provincial People's Committee as winners of the Nghe An Journalism Award 2016 out of more than 100 entries; including 2 first prizes, 4 second prizes, 8 third prizes, and 11 consolation prizes.
