'Vinh must be a livable city'
(Baonghean.vn) - Mr. Luong Ba Quang, Chairman of the Nghe An Architects Association, expressed the above opinion at a working session to gather feedback on the plan to implement Decision 2468 of the Prime Minister to develop Vinh City, Nghe An into an economic and cultural center of the North Central region, organized by the Provincial People's Committee on the afternoon of April 19th.

"Is Vinh City still the center of North Central Vietnam?" Mr. Quang questioned the city's current development and replied, "I see that Vinh City is still stagnant while everything else is in motion. Thanh Hoa City might even overtake us, not to mention Ha Tinh City which is developing rapidly. Our city still has many issues to address. Although we were previously number one, we are now lagging behind and being overtaken."
Concerned about the city's rapid development, this architect suggested that one of the main driving forces for building Vinh City to meet the criteria of a regional center in the North Central region is to attract and improve the quality of human resources. To achieve this, Vinh must truly be a livable city; only then will people want to come and settle, work, and enhance the city's competitiveness.
However, given the limited financial resources and the inability to compare with larger, more developed cities, Vinh City must find ways to attract talent that are appropriate to its conditions and circumstances, primarily by effectively utilizing the existing local human resources.
With that perspective, the Chairman of the Provincial Architects Association suggested that, in the Plan for implementing Decision 2468 of the Prime Minister, the localities and relevant sectors of the province should consider a certain angle to build Vinh City into a livable, civilized, and modern city based on its existing foundations, or in other words, to become fertile ground for attracting talent, thereby promoting production development and contributing back to the city's development.
| Following the directive of the Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Nguyen Xuan Duong, Vinh City and relevant provincial departments are currently developing a plan to implement Decision 2468 of the Prime Minister approving the Project to develop Vinh City, Nghe An province, into an economic and cultural center of the North Central region by 2020, in accordance with Resolution 26 of the Politburo. The Provincial People's Committee will then review and provide feedback before submitting the plan to the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee. |
