The stock market was awash in red as investors remained cautious, causing the VN-Index to drop by more than 6 points.

Opening the trading session on the morning of October 6th, the market's recovery momentum showed signs of slowing down as red gradually spread across the electronic board. However, the VN-Index still received support from VIC and maintained above the reference level after more than an hour of trading.

Liquidity has not shown significant improvement, while cautious sentiment continues to dominate capital flows. Most sectors have also only fluctuated within a narrow range, with no standout stocks emerging to create a significant impact on the market.

Among individual stocks, KOS continued to face selling pressure and fell to its floor price of 12,750 VND/share. Trading volume for this stock was only around 4,000 units, while the volume of sell orders at the floor price remained very large, exceeding 34 million units.

Meanwhile, PNJ briefly rose by over 3% but quickly reversed course and fell sharply, currently down nearly 5%. The stock saw over 5.5 million units traded and continues to face net selling pressure from foreign investors.

The banking sector was dominated by red, with SHB (-1.36%), TCB (-1.38%), MBB (-0.78%), HDB (-1.6%), ACB (-2.14%), and BID (-1.73%). The financial services sector also saw declines, including SSI (-1.78%), VIX (-2.53%), SHS (-3.15%), VND (-1.5%), MBS (-2.63%), and TCX (-1.8%).

Real estate group: VIC (+1.21%), NVL (-3.79%), VRE (-2.1%), DXG (-5.51%) and KDH (-2.33%). Oil and gas group: BSR (+0.33%), PLX (+2.11%), PVS (-0.3%), OIL (-1.52%) and PVC (-1.69%). Personal goods group: PNJ (-6.7%), TCM (-3.2%), TNG (-1.1%) and TLG (+0.1%).

At the close of trading, the VN-Index fell 6.71 points to 1,746.49 points (-0.38%) compared to the previous session. Similarly, the HNX-Index decreased by 263.78 points (-2.17%), equivalent to 5.84 points, and the UPCoM-Index decreased by 125.13 points (-0.29%), equivalent to 0.36 points.

Market liquidity reached VND 6,935.78 billion, with 317 million shares traded. Across the sector, 56 stocks rose, 239 fell, and 52 dropped to their reference price.

According to experts at Kirin Securities Joint Stock Company, with the formation of a bullish candlestick yesterday, the VN-Index has officially ended its streak of 5 consecutive sessions under selling pressure from foreign investors.

Despite a relatively strong recovery in points, many investors regret that the majority of the gains depended on VIC. The rest of the market witnessed strong divergence between sectors.

Conversely, sectors representing the face of the market, such as banking, securities, and real estate, continue to show mixed upward and downward trends, making it difficult for the VN-Index to regain its momentum anytime soon, as trading volume remains more than 15% lower than the 20-day average.

Currently, investors continue to maintain a holding strategy, waiting for opportunities to increase their stock holdings at safe discounted price levels, prioritizing companies with strong fundamentals and promising individual stories.
