The VNeID electronic identity verification application has officially launched version 2.2.8, bringing a significant technical upgrade: allowing users to check the validity of their National Identity Card by scanning a QR code directly on their mobile devices. This is considered a step forward in digitizing the civil verification process, helping to eliminate the barriers of manual verification which often carry many risks.

Prior to this update, scanning the QR code on the National Identity Card using common apps or specialized scanning devices typically only displayed static identification data fields. This information included full name, personal identification number, date of birth, and permanent address – data that was already printed on the physical surface of the card.

The limitation of the old method was its inability to reflect the current legal status of the document. With the new feature in VNeID 2.2.8, the system will connect directly to the database to accurately determine whether the card is still valid.
