According to information provided by the victim's family, the victim, Duong Xuan Man, died from intoxication, falling on a step and sustaining head and chin injuries resulting in fatal blood loss. However, based on scientific evidence, the Criminal Investigation Department of Yen Dung District Police concluded that the injuries on the victim's body could not have caused his death. The Criminal Investigation Department of Yen Dung District Police applied a comprehensive set of investigative measures, coordinating with professional units of the Provincial Police and requesting an expert examination from the Institute of Criminal Science - Ministry of Public Security. The expert's conclusion showed that the victim died from drowning.

The investigative efforts of the Yen Dung District Police Department were launched with the goal of quickly finding the perpetrator of this crime. After a period of intensive investigation and narrowing down the suspects, Nguyen Thi Nga, the victim's wife, emerged as a suspect. Furthermore, the Yen Dung District Police Department received information that after the funeral of Mr. Man, Nguyen Thi Nga showed signs of anxiety and fear. On March 3rd, the police successfully persuaded Nguyen Thi Nga to surrender.

On April 10th, the Investigation Police Department of Yen Dung District issued a decision to initiate a criminal case, indict the suspect, and order the temporary detention of Nguyen Thi Nga for the following offense:killingand has been approved by the People's Procuratorate of Yen Dung District.

At the police station, suspect Nguyen Thi Nga confessed: Around 3 to 4 PM on February 9, 2021 (the 28th day of the Lunar New Year), while Nga and her 4-year-old daughter were watching TV in the family's living room, Mr. Duong Xuan Man came home drunk and fell face down on the doorstep. Nga noticed that Mr. Man's clothes were damp and dirty. Seeing this, Nga touched Mr. Man to help him up, but Mr. Man cursed at her and tried to strangle her, which Nga pushed away.

Out of anger, Nga went to get a piece of cloth about 70 cm long and tied Mr. Man's hands together. Then she went to find clothes for him to change into. About 20 minutes later, Nga brought half a basin of water and a cloth towel to where Mr. Man was lying, intending to wash his face. Nga used scissors to cut the cloth binding Mr. Man's hands. As soon as the cloth was released, Mr. Man grabbed Nga's hair with both hands, pulling her down and cursing at her. Nga managed to push his hands away, then took a roll of tape, wrapped it around his mouth, and looped it over his head.

At this point, Mr. Man continued to hurl insults at Nga. Then, Nga submerged Mr. Man's face in the basin of water she had brought earlier for about a minute. Mr. Man opened his eyes but then closed them again. Nga then used scissors to cut the tape covering Mr. Man's mouth, changed his clothes, carried him to bed, covered him with a blanket, and took the child to a neighbor's house to play.

At 10 PM that same day, Nga called Mr. Man but received no answer. She approached him and touched his arms and legs, finding them cold, so she called for help to take him to the hospital, but Mr. Man had already passed away.

Currently, the Investigation Police Department of Yen Dung District Police is continuing to investigate and gather evidence to transfer the case file to the Investigation Police Department of Bac Giang Province Police for investigation according to their jurisdiction.
