Every year, Tran Phu Street is a bustling spot for selling flowers and ornamental plants in the city. On the afternoon of the 29th and the morning of the 30th of Tet (Lunar New Year), according to our observations, with tens of thousands of kumquat trees brought in from all over and sold over the past week, the trash from fallen kumquats had been dumped onto the street, forming small, makeshift garbage dumps. Meanwhile, garbage trucks on the streets are overflowing, and sanitation workers are overwhelmed. Before Tet (Lunar New Year), Mr. Vo Viet Thanh - Member of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee, Secretary of the Vinh City Party Committee - instructed urban regulations teams and ward/commune authorities to remind vendors along the streets not to litter indiscriminately. Any garbage must be collected immediately. However, the awareness of many vendors from other regions regarding the city is still low, and Vinh City generated a huge amount of garbage during Tet, putting pressure on the city's environmental sanitation efforts before, during, and after the holiday.
